My life as a fan
I was just a kid in the late '70s, living in a small town in the Texas Hill Country. But I was a die-hard Oilers fan. My dad, on the other hand, was a Cowboys fan. There's no way I can explain the reason why I hated the Cowboys, I don't even remember making any conscious decision to do so. It was just there.
Everyone knows there were many low spots if you were an Oiler fan, with a few high spots sprinkled here and there. Bud moved the team and they became dead to me. I was an NFL orphan.
Then along came Bob McNair like some kind of Phillip Drummond offering a family and a team to call my own. I was all in. 19-10 was one of my happiest moments as a Houston fan. Suffering through 2-14 was one of the worst.
Fast forward to this season. I found out about a month and a half ago that I would be moving to Portland, OR. Since I would no longer be in Houston I wanted a place to settle in and be connected with other "all in" fans. I had been lurking at this site and Matt's for a while and knew most of the characters and felt like I belonged as part of the dysfunctional family that is BRB and Co.
So last night I put on my Texans hat and headed out in search of the nearest sports bar knowing I was gonna take a lot of crap for being a fan. And I was looking forward to it, the Texans were my team. And after all was said and done, there I was, sitting alone in a sports bar 2500 miles away from home and never more proud to be a Houston Texans fan.

Well, that and the story about Fred Weary at the swinger's club. The thought of him banging my wife...I mean, it's not like she doesn't point and laugh already...sorry, feeling a little verklempt now.
Where were you in the Hill Country? BTBD and I live in Austin.

Welcome
You're definitely in. Once you can admit what a screwed-up bunch we are, it makes acceptance so much easier. You also get bonus points for spelling dysfunctional correctly.
And last night was fantastic. I am absolutely going to love having a team that can score 30 per game, and only gives up a touchdown after a turnover at the 27-yd line.

Thanks for the welcome...
BFD-I grew up in Junction, it's about 100 miles due west of Austin. But I had been working and living in Houston since 2001.

Hey Buck!
Due to computer gremlins and the holidays, I haven't been on BRB for about a month, but It's good to hear from a fellow Hill Country fan.
I was born and raised in Kerrville, hung out a lot in Harper, and now live in San Antonio. Solis and I are Texan fans here in Dallas South (SA). Every body here has an erection for Jimmy Jones, Wade Phillips, Terrell Owens, and especially Tony Romo.
Welcome (late I know) to BRB.

Nope
"living it up": huddling indoors from the day's wintry mix.
"wintry mix": rain, sleet, snow, strong winds. Just picture the 9th circle of Hell. Only worse.
