Old school Oilers

Yes, it's a link to that rag of a newspaper:
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/5363616.html

I know I have waxed poetic about the Oilers before, so I will mostly spare you of that.

I may have the blinders on, but I met these guys in groups more than once.  Culp, Bethea, Brazile, Barber, all awesome.  To a man.

I'll end with: Vernon Perry will go down in history as one of the Oilers most unlikeliest heroes.  I'll always remember that game against the Chargers.  Perry struggled - often - but for one game, he was an unstoppable force.

One more rant...
That Robert Brazile is not in the football HOF is, in my opinion, the greatest injustice in sports.  In his time, he was the best of every world: intelligent, athletic, and dominant.

You are old enough to have watched that live.

I've been informed
that I am not allowed to make age jokes today.  It's my wife's 32d birthday and she is feeling a little old.  Which she should, since she is 2 years, 6 months, and 3 days older than I am.

Thankfully, she doesn't read BRB (or my blog, for that matter), so I can make all the age jokes I want here.

You are old.

Double Ha - which is Ha Ha
I'm on the doorstep of twenty-nine (29), still technically twenty-eight.  Which means I grew up in the Warren Moon to Earnest Givens era.  One of my first lessons in irony, there is no run in the run and shoot.

Bum
The year was 1979.  You youngsters probably weren't even born yet.  The Oilers were robbed of a win in the AFC Champioship game.  When they came back to a Dome packed with appreciative fans, Bum stood in the middle of the field and said,

"One year ago, we knocked on the door. This year, we beat on the door. Next year, we're gonna kick the son-of-a-bitch in."

They showed this classic clip on local tv the other day, and it gave me chills (right before I felt really old).  Ah, the good old days...

Yeah, I can do math
Ok so maybe you guys were born in '79.  That was supposed to sound grandfatherly, not like I probably asked Travis Johnson to take the SAT for me.
