Tatum Bell/Jake Plummer trade?
I don't have a link. I've just heard various folks on 790 talking about it, but it sounds like there's a rumor (coming from Denver's side I assume) about a potential trade that would bring Tatum Bell, Jake Plummer, and Denver's first round pick (21st if I'm not mistaken) for our 8th pick.
To me, this is just Tatum Bell for a swap of first round picks. I don't value Jake Plummer much over David Carr, and he may be available if the Broncos cut him loose anyway. I don't like it. Hopefully it's just a crazy rumor.
I've been pointed to this site from the Astros and Longhorn SBNation blogs and I'm looking forward to following along with the discussions. I haven't been a huge Texans fan since moving to Houston, but the last couple years I've been following them a little closer. This site might sucker me into becoming a real "fan". Cheers.

I heard the same talks this morning
It definitely has my interests peaked, but I am still on the fence as to the value of it. I don't think it is something that can be acted on in the next few weeks. There are still too many unknowns.(the health of Dominick Davis/Williams, free agents, etc.) However, I would like to see this as an option on draft day....if someone like AP doesn't slip down to #8. OU Sucks, but it would be nice to have AP playing in Texas again.
If the conditions are 'right' on draft day, I think the value would be pretty good....especially since we should be able to get a very good DB at the #21 pick. I'm not trying to imply that we have a massive, gaping hole in our secondary. Never would I say something like that.
Also, welcome to the site. I also migrated here after PB at BON pointed it out. BattleRed is definitely in need of more actively participating members.
My take...
I'm a firm believer in building from the inside-out, which means start with the lines and develop from there. That said, my preference would be to nab a Branch, Okoye, or, if we are incredibly lucky, Thomas with the first pick. Like Shake says, we could make the trade and grab a DB at #21, which wouldn't make me too upset. But I just don't know if holding onto the picks where they are, grabbing a DT/OL, and taking a DB or QB in #2, and the other in #3 (I might gamble that Kolb stays on the board), might be better. My formidable gut says yes. We could also take Selvin Young in the 6th :-)
I just lurk at BON, where I saw the link, but I do post at times to Sickels' minorleagueball.com, which is another SB Nation site.
Bad Trade
Regarding the proposed trade, I'm firmly against it. Put me in BFD's corner in this discussion. I'm not convinced that Wali Lundy or Chris Taylor isn't as good as Tatum Bell, and ditching Carr for Plummer is essentially a wash in my book. That means we're basically giving up the No. 8 pick for the No. 21 pick, and I can't get behind that.
Now, if you wanted to talk Plummer, the No. 21, and a third rounder for the No. 8 pick, I'd have to think awfully hard about it...
Work? Seriously?
I almost forgot about Chris Taylor...which is hard to believe considering all the playing time he saw this year {insert sarcasm here}. I became a fan of him during the last game of the season. He had 99 yds on 20 carries.
Yes, I realize it was a 'meaningless' game for both us & the Browns. However, the thing that caught my eye was the fact that Taylor always fell forward when getting tackled. He just always seemed to be able to get that extra yard or 2 out of every run.
I now turn the blog back over to mass speculation....
