Texans Sign Bethel Johnson

Ummmmm...hurrah?  Call me pessimistic, but I don't see Bethel Johnson answering our prayers at the No. 2 WR spot.  I'd be excited about the possibility of him contributing in the return game, except that it would seem that said area is awfully full right now with Jacoby Jones, Jerome Mathis, Apostrophe Davis, Dexter Wynn, etc.  Best case scenario, I would think, is that Johnson contributes on special teams and lines up in the slot on occasion.  While I think it's pretty unlikely that he even makes the team, you never know.  Best of luck, Bethel.

Bethel Johnson
Johnson is a former Aggie, and as an A&M fan I think it's good to see him on the Texans, but I don't think he'll stick, except maybe as a kick/punt returner.  If his recieving skills were there, wouldn't he have stuck with one of the other three teams he's been with in, what is it, 4 or 5 years in the league?

Pretty Much Agreed
I'm more or less in agreement with you, SL, though I do think the rare occasion where a guy bounces around before finding the right situation exists.  Granted, I don't see Bethel Johnson as a guy of that ilk.

On a related note, Jerome Solomon stated the obvious this morning by opining that the Texans' receiving corps still leaves much to be desired.

Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...

re:
If it gets Jacoby away from the punt/kick return duties and into a WR #2/#3 position, I welcome him with open arms.

Rude
How could not mention the signing of the immortal Zac Woodfin?

re:
I almost did but, eh, stuff came up.

If he lasts past the first round of cuts, he should be happy.

I think...
his best hope is that the team decides to carry 13 LBs.
