Grades
I know I have never graded players before. I just wanted to do it this time.
Schaub- I admit I don't like him all that much, but he had a hell of a game besides the fumble. He made good decisions and found the open recievers. I have to give Schaub an "A"
Andre Johnson- What can I say about AJ? He is an absolute beast! Best player on offense. I give AJ an "A+"
Owen Danials- He has developed tremendously. He caught 2 touchdown passes WIDE open. He is on of the best Tight Ends in the league. "A"
O-line- To me they did great the first half and started slacking the second. What I didn't understand why did Saleem play some? O-line deserves a "B"
Steve Slaton- Amazing first carry! I thought he was gone. Great player overall. "B"
D-line- I dont know what to say about them. "B-"
LBs- Amazing group of guys besides Greenwood. He sucks. Overall "B+"
Secondary- They are just plain horrible. "F"
Dante Robinson- He looked decent. He just has to get back into his rythm. He missed some tackles and just tried to hard. "C"
I know I'm not an expert on this, so critisize me if you want. f

Good Job - McClain just grades by position groups, individual grades are more interesting
He gave Schaub a B. Except for the fuumble Schaub was freakin outstanding. 26 out of 31 was almost as good as Colt McCoys 29 out of 32. Without the fumble Schaub is an A+++. I agree wuth your A.
Andre is on an UNREAL ROLL. 2nd in the league with 629 receiving yards. A+ is not a high enough grade for the Texans best player. Keep it up Dre.
Owen Daniels – Another great game. Getting wide open twice in the end zone is what winners do. A+
O Line – McClain agrees with your B. 3 sacks is a negative, but 150 yards rushing is excellent. B is a fair grade. Playing Salaam some in the second half may have been partly due to Brown’s ankle, and partly just to knock the rust off. Salaam is the backup tackle and needed some game time reps.
Super Steve – Another nice game. Great first run, 36 yds I think. Only 44 yards after that. 80 yards deserves a B.
D Line – Good job by Bulman getting his first sack. They played well in the first half, but slacked off in the 2nd. I give em a C along with Johnny Mac.
LB’s – DeMeco is playing hurt and it shows. He is still effective, but not superhuman. unfortunately the ankle may slow him down, to just being a good player for the rest of the year. Zac Diles is coming on, but Greenwood is just too sporadic. Your B+ is generous, I say C, just like McClain.
DB’s – F is a bit harsh. Petey blew a few plays, but Demps was supposed to be there on the 96 yard play and he bit hard on an inside receiver. Bennett should definitely be ahead of Faggins now. We need better safeties. C.
Dunta was clearly not at full effectiveness, but he was moving well and that was great to see. He says the knee feels great, and that is more than we expected at this point. He will definitely upgrade the DB’s for the rest of the season. I give him an A just for getting back this far this fast.

Nicely Done
I’d give Schaub an A-, solely because of the turnover.
’Dre and OD both get As from me.
I’d give OL a B/B+. They’re getting better and better each week.
Slaton gets a B+ from me. 80 yards is 80 yards, and it’s about 40 more yards than we would’ve gotten from anyone last season.
DL deserves a B-; only thing that saves ‘em from worse is that they were salty against the run. Truth be told, I wonder how effective they’d be with their four best guys lining up out there and/or more consistent blitzing from the LBs or DBs.
LB play looks better and better each week. I’d say B.
Faggins—F.
Jacques—D+.
Demps—B-.
Harrison—C.
Dunta—grading on a curve, considering his injury and the layoff, gets him a B.
Turk—A+ for three punts inside the five.
Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...

DBs
I don’t know if F is too harsh. I think when you look at the amount of 95+ yard TD connections every year – they’re pretty rare… so when you give one up to the freaking LIONS, it’s hard not to grade their entire game based on that one play.
But Bennett did have a much better game. I wonder if it was good enough when juxtaposed against Faggins’ horrible game to get him back in the starting lineup.

Come on
The coaching staff dont know how to start the right players. We all know that Fag and Man that don’t know how to put his hands up will start when it should be Fred and maybe Molden

I forgot
Im from Rosenberg and graduated in 08 and i played on the 2007 Div I 4-A State Championship football team. I was the starting center and the smallest one you will ever see. But my head coach was just like Kubiak. When we would get a lead we would play conservative and just run up the middle with 33 (Jacquizz Rodgers). Ya he got first down practically every time but thats besides the point. If i was a coach i wouldnt care if the score ended up to be 100-0. Im going to keep scoring.. Agreed?

Jacquizz
His game vs USC had to be one of the most enjoyable college performances I’ve seen in a long time. That kid’s pretty special.

I loved
The way that he kept on getting horse-collar and face mask penalties against USC because he was so short.
That kid is good.
Didn’t Faneca go to Lamar Consolidated?

It depends
If you’re a conservative team in the first place – do what you do best. If you’re like the Texans, and your passing game is your strength – you HAVE to stay aggressive… but it helped at the end of the Lions game that the Lions only had one time out to work with. If they’d had more than that, I bet Kubiak would have thrown the ball on 3rd and 7 instead of the run they tried.
But in most cases – I agree with you. The object of the game is to score, and playing not to lose gets you in trouble more times than not.

maybe im being too harsh but
on the offensive side of the ball, i dont give anyone other than andre johnson, steve slaton, and owen daniels above a B. we are a 2 – 4 team that have looked awful more than we have looked good.
on the defensive side of the ball, no one gets above a C. we have mario williams and demeco ryans and thats it. our defense is horrible to watch play and i dont feel that ANY lead is safe if there is still time on the clock and the ball is in the other teams hands. we need some major help on defense.
