Didn't see the game
My wife made me go out for a walk with her and the kids (stupid late games! The early game works so much better for me — the kids are napping).
I figured now would be a good time to head over to the Chron to see what people were saying.
Big mistake. That place makes you stupid.
Thanks for the grades.

Thats sucks
It was a great game. I think the defense did pretty decent for the most part and the offense is doing great. Im glad im only 18 and not married. No offense

Dude
When I was your age, I felt the exact same way. It’s a good idea to wait for a few years. Eventually, you’ll get tired of rubbing it out and having no food in the fridge. That’s when you’ll know you’re ready.
Actually, you never really get tired of rubbing it out.

Aren't we tied with the Jags now?
Amirite?

We are, but we're not
Record-wise, yes – but remember they beat us head-to-head.
I don’t know how to root tomorrow night. If the Colts lose, they have a game on us head-to-head too – but record-wise we’ll all be 3-4 behind the Titans, who don’t seem like they’re coming back to the pack. I guess I’m rooting for nobody, but I’ll be happier if Indy loses? I dunno.

Rooting For Indy
I’d rather have the Titans fall back to the pack a little bit, even if it means Indy goes a game up on us.
Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...

I just watched
The Slaton run on nfl.com.
The real star of that play is Leach, imo. He just levels his man coming around the corner. Unreal.

Was just discussing that
With MDC. Vonta is a freaking beast.

Good call, I just watched the clip. Leach pancaked #57 OLB Dhani Jones, perfect block
The Giants wanted Leach and signed him to an offer sheet this past offseason which the Texans smartly matched. He is definitely among the best blocking backs in the league.

Highlight?
Where did you see it? I can’t find it on nfl.com

Try here

Should be on the left side of the screen.
I just watched it again. That play is absolutely beautiful in so many ways.

I like the grades you throw out there. Not too many negatives yesterday.
You break it down into way more detail then Johnny Mac at the Chron.
Here’s my take:
Schaub – A+++ (near perfect game)
Slaton – B
Green – B- (hope it is just a cramp, and not a groin pull)
Moats – B – Nice start. I like the strong compact guys like him.
Leech – A for awesome blocking
AJ – No grade is too high for perfection. He looks like Jerry Rice out there.
Walter, Daniels and David A – All deserve the A
I agree with your OLine grades as well. Run blocking needs work, but is improving.
D Line – Pass rush – A – Good consistent pressure.
D Line vs the run – C. Looked shaky at times. Have to do better vs Adrian P
Mario, Diles and Amobi – All get an A
Dunta Daunte gets an A as well. Almost had 2 INT’s
Fergy and Wilson both get an A-. HArrison – C. Too slow. Looks like CC
Faggins need to be demoted to the dime back- F
Reeves – C. Needs to be demoted to nickel back.
Fred B – B+
DeMeco is playing hurt and it shows. He is one tough stud. A for guts.
Greenwood – D. Needs to be benched. I wish Adibi could get healthy.
Jacoby – A+ Another TD. Great way to start the action.
I agree with the A for Offense and B- for defense.

Im suprised
that everyone is agreeing with my grades for 2 weeks in a row.. I have never graded before.

I would give the Defense a solid A
They held Cincy to under seven points by forcing three turnovers and shutting ‘em out for an entire half. I might buy an A- but that’s about as low as I would go.
I do agree that DeMeco is not playing like the Pro Bowler we’ve been accustom to seeing… Dude needs to get right, like now.

I checked out Football Outsiders yesterday
And they have our D ranked 31st, although our weighted rank (where recent games count more than early-season games) is a whopping 30.
So, our D still sucks. Our best hope to win is by our offense possessing the ball for 40:00.
by tehGrindCrusher on Oct 30, 2008 8:22 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
For the season
That’s pretty accurate…
But had the D put up numbers like they did last Sunday from game one, we’d be a defensive juggernaut. I know, I know… it was the Palmerless Bengals – but still. They held them to right around 250 total offense. That’s pretty damn good.
