Open Game Day Thread--Indianapolis v. Houston

Indianapolis Colts @ Houston Texans

Biggest. Game. Of. The. Year. May. Your. God. Of. Choice. Have. Mercy. On. Our. Souls.

Overly dramatic? Perhaps. Regardless of your take on the season thus far, however, I think you'd have to agree that they don't get much bigger than today's game in terms of the season's outlook from here on out. Win, and hope remains. Lose, and the refrain will be something to the effect of "Here we go again..."

The solution? Win a damn game, Texans! A second game day thread will post to the front page at 1:30 p.m., so be sure to move the party there then so the Comments keep flowing. Until then, grace us with your pre-game, in-game, and post-game thoughts, foibles, and prayer chains in the Comments below. GO TEXANS!

Maybe

you have to send it to ten of your friends before it works.

Right....

the infamous chain fanpost. Thanks.

Still Having A Problem, SL?

If so, e-mail me at battleredblog@gmail.com

Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...

You know what's usually great about the west coast?

Pre-game shows start at 9 a.m. and the real stuff at 10. It really is football all day long. Except today. Business travel claims another victim. But here’s to hoping AJ has 110 yards receiving and a TD while Mr. Slaton racks up 80 on the ground and another 40 through the air. May the Fred wake up, DeMeco destroy, Mario pillage, and TJ and Weaver stay off the field is my humble prayer. Amen.

by ArtistFormerlyKnownAsBuck on Oct 5, 2008 10:21 AM CDT reply reply actions actions   1 recs

AMEN

To the TJ prayer. Why haven’t we released him yet?

OK THIS IS TOO MUCH

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON????? EVERY TIME I HIT “POST”, “SAVE”, OR “PUBLISH”, I GET SENT TO THE LOG-IN SCREEN! AGAIN AND AGAIN!!!!!!!

SOMEONE, ANYONE, HELP!

I'm about to blow a gasket

so I better go and try to relax for this afternoons gig. Good luck to our team. SB Nation sucks sometimes.

Must win

For my sanity. Tottenham already lost today. I can’t deal with sports anymore. I’m on the brink here…. Schaub save me!

GO TEXANS

The entire Jacksonville Jaguars community is rooting for the Texans today. With the Colts floundering a bit, would you guys be so kind as to toss them an anvil?

We’ll be rooting for you!

You know..

If it stays this quiet in here throughout the game – this thread could eventually be looked upon as one man’s decent into sports-induced madness.

Lot of promise here.

by DisplacedTexan on Oct 5, 2008 11:53 AM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

It usually picks up once the game starts

Although the Titans game did seem to take a while before it really started going.

I'm starting to think...

We need an intervention for you. Your gchat messages are downright depressing.

anybody notice

that schaub led the team onto the field?

by bigfatdrunk on Oct 5, 2008 12:01 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Jedi mind trick?

Surprise mofo! Schaub is at the helm!

by DisplacedTexan on Oct 5, 2008 12:02 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

What was Eugene Wilson doing

on the field at CB? He got beat out by P-Buc and Aqib Talib. He should be at FSl;

by Tailgate Andy on Oct 5, 2008 12:04 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

diles can tackle?

who knew? course, he gave up 4 yards.

by bigfatdrunk on Oct 5, 2008 12:05 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

It would have been a first down anyways

but I still would have liked to see DeMeco make that tackle.

by Tailgate Andy on Oct 5, 2008 12:09 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Colts kick a FG

The first play was a pretty long pass, but other than that, our defense looked relatively competent.

by Tailgate Andy on Oct 5, 2008 12:12 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Tackling

Already infinitely better.

by DisplacedTexan on Oct 5, 2008 12:14 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

More crappy special teams.

Colts start their drive on the 30 yard-line. As for us? The 17. How can so much go wrong in a year?

by Nashmeister on Oct 5, 2008 12:15 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Don't think they're expecting that?

After everyone questioned their run-d for two weeks?

Get creative, Kyle.

by DisplacedTexan on Oct 5, 2008 12:17 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Andre Johnson

made a tough catch, just shy of the first down marker.

by Tailgate Andy on Oct 5, 2008 12:17 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Big stop

Come on guys. Big stop, right here.

by DisplacedTexan on Oct 5, 2008 12:22 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

We fucking suck.

1/14 on 3rd downs so far they were…

by DisplacedTexan on Oct 5, 2008 12:23 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I thought so too

but i just saw Diles 5 yards away from the play, so I feel better now.

by Tailgate Andy on Oct 5, 2008 12:23 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yawn.

New week, same results. Fuck you, Richard Smith.

by Nashmeister on Oct 5, 2008 12:23 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

there's frenchy, andy

and he didn’t look back. again

by bigfatdrunk on Oct 5, 2008 12:25 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

insanity

doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

that is Richard Smith’s defensive philosophy.

by bigfatdrunk on Oct 5, 2008 12:28 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Embarrassing.

Is there one thing to root for on this team?

by DisplacedTexan on Oct 5, 2008 12:28 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Not so far.

No running game, no passing game, the Colts have gone for it twice on fourth down and been succesful. I’d say it can only get better, but I know better than that.

by Tailgate Andy on Oct 5, 2008 12:29 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Reeves

Needs to learn how to turn his head around to look for the fucking ball seriously… How many times have wee seen that this season ALREADY?

by Drecoby8012 on Oct 5, 2008 12:31 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Sage

throws on the run a LOT better than Schaub. He also can do the stretch and the PA out of the stretch that they never do with Schaub…..

by Triple347 on Oct 5, 2008 12:34 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

That doesn’t mean I am saying start Sage, BFD, but it is merely an observation that I have.

by Triple347 on Oct 5, 2008 12:35 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

hahah! you reading my mind!?!

I think Schaub has definitely improved throwing on the run, though. To me, it’s a matter of arm strength.

by bigfatdrunk on Oct 5, 2008 12:38 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Nice end to the first quarter

It actually looked like we had an offense out there. Maybe we’ll start using the pass to set up the run.

by Tailgate Andy on Oct 5, 2008 12:34 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Pass Interference

Marlon Jackson got in the way. New set of downs for the offense to work with, and we get to start over at the 4 yard line.

by Tailgate Andy on Oct 5, 2008 12:39 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

D's turn

They got a rest. Now step up and make a stop.

by DisplacedTexan on Oct 5, 2008 12:44 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Mario gets the sack

Amobi gets pressure, but Reeves still can’t turn his head to save his life.

by Tailgate Andy on Oct 5, 2008 12:47 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Amobi

got a good push there.

by Triple347 on Oct 5, 2008 12:47 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Fair catch?

What the tap-dancing christ was that? Some sort of fake-out catch?

by DisplacedTexan on Oct 5, 2008 12:48 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I don't know why

But I think Jacoby was trying to weed out all the fans with heart problems.

by Tailgate Andy on Oct 5, 2008 12:48 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Who is #80?

And where has he been all season?

by DisplacedTexan on Oct 5, 2008 12:51 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I don't know where he's been

But I think it’s about time for him to get his first TD of the season.

by Tailgate Andy on Oct 5, 2008 12:52 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

5 man coverage?

Lets not throw there, kthx.

Ice cold.

by DisplacedTexan on Oct 5, 2008 12:56 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Diles

can’t run with clark on that zone, and Manning made a good throw in front of Harrison.

by Triple347 on Oct 5, 2008 12:58 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

They

are targeting Diles.

by Triple347 on Oct 5, 2008 12:59 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I guess it's better than them targeting Petey or Frenchy

At least Diles is relatively close to the line of scrimmage.

by Tailgate Andy on Oct 5, 2008 1:00 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Petey

actually hasn’t done too bad so far this game or this year. I hate to say it, but it is true, IMHO. He made a good play on that catch by Wayne, but Wayne wa a little too strong.

by Triple347 on Oct 5, 2008 1:01 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

if we picked it up...

…it was only a matter of time.

by bigfatdrunk on Oct 5, 2008 1:00 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Finally

Their tackles have been a half-step ahead of the rest of the line all game long.

by DisplacedTexan on Oct 5, 2008 12:59 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

My heart

Just skipped a beat. Did Frenchy really just make a play? Holy hell.

by DisplacedTexan on Oct 5, 2008 1:01 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

!!!

Are my eyes deceiving me? Did I really just see Frenchy back down a pass? Somethings brewing.

I've got a feeling that...

Once again, this game is going to come down to our butter-soft end of game defense. The Colts look very beatable of course, but how will our guys respond late in the 4th?

Also, did you guys see they had Mario, Earl, and Bulman on the line at once. Man, they’re trying everything, thank gawd.

by HoustonDiehards on Oct 5, 2008 1:07 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Even if he is on the hotseat

I think the DC will get fired first, buying Kubes at least another year.

Great, great, great first half for the Texans. Can’t say they did much wrong. Let’s keep it up in the second half.

Starting with three on the road clearly isn’t easy, these guys seem motivated to win at home.

Ever learns to turn his head, he could be good.

Nice first half by the Texans. Good pressure on Peyton (compared to what they did in the past) — let’s keep that up.

And win this motherfucker.
