Open Game Day Thread--Indianapolis v. Houston
Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans, Oct 5, 2008 12:00 PM CDT
Biggest. Game. Of. The. Year. May. Your. God. Of. Choice. Have. Mercy. On. Our. Souls.
Overly dramatic? Perhaps. Regardless of your take on the season thus far, however, I think you'd have to agree that they don't get much bigger than today's game in terms of the season's outlook from here on out. Win, and hope remains. Lose, and the refrain will be something to the effect of "Here we go again..."
The solution? Win a damn game, Texans! A second game day thread will post to the front page at 1:30 p.m., so be sure to move the party there then so the Comments keep flowing. Until then, grace us with your pre-game, in-game, and post-game thoughts, foibles, and prayer chains in the Comments below. GO TEXANS!

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH SB NATION
I’ve logged in, several times actually. I have a fanpost I want to put up, the SBN keeps asking me to log in. I’M ALREADY LOGGED IN!!!!!!!!!!!!
All I want to do is vent some frustration by posting a fanpost…..WTH? Anybody know???
"...and if I claim to be a wise man, well, it surely means that I don't know". SL
Maybe
you have to send it to ten of your friends before it works.

Still Having A Problem, SL?
If so, e-mail me at battleredblog@gmail.com
Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...

You know what's usually great about the west coast?
Pre-game shows start at 9 a.m. and the real stuff at 10. It really is football all day long. Except today. Business travel claims another victim. But here’s to hoping AJ has 110 yards receiving and a TD while Mr. Slaton racks up 80 on the ground and another 40 through the air. May the Fred wake up, DeMeco destroy, Mario pillage, and TJ and Weaver stay off the field is my humble prayer. Amen.

AMEN
To the TJ prayer. Why haven’t we released him yet?

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON????? EVERY TIME I HIT “POST”, “SAVE”, OR “PUBLISH”, I GET SENT TO THE LOG-IN SCREEN! AGAIN AND AGAIN!!!!!!!
SOMEONE, ANYONE, HELP!
"...and if I claim to be a wise man, well, it surely means that I don't know". SL
I'm about to blow a gasket
so I better go and try to relax for this afternoons gig. Good luck to our team. SB Nation sucks sometimes.

Must win
For my sanity. Tottenham already lost today. I can’t deal with sports anymore. I’m on the brink here…. Schaub save me!
GO TEXANS
The entire Jacksonville Jaguars community is rooting for the Texans today. With the Colts floundering a bit, would you guys be so kind as to toss them an anvil?
We’ll be rooting for you!

You know..
If it stays this quiet in here throughout the game – this thread could eventually be looked upon as one man’s decent into sports-induced madness.
Lot of promise here.
It usually picks up once the game starts
Although the Titans game did seem to take a while before it really started going.

I'm starting to think...
We need an intervention for you. Your gchat messages are downright depressing.
I'm thinking I'll take up Opera
At least I know Aida dies.
Bitch had it coming anyway….

Jedi mind trick?
Surprise mofo! Schaub is at the helm!

What was Eugene Wilson doing
on the field at CB? He got beat out by P-Buc and Aqib Talib. He should be at FSl;
It would have been a first down anyways
but I still would have liked to see DeMeco make that tackle.
Colts kick a FG
The first play was a pretty long pass, but other than that, our defense looked relatively competent.
More crappy special teams.
Colts start their drive on the 30 yard-line. As for us? The 17. How can so much go wrong in a year?
Don't think they're expecting that?
After everyone questioned their run-d for two weeks?
Get creative, Kyle.
The vaunted Colt's Defense
holds us to a three and out.
by Tailgate Andy on Oct 5, 2008 12:21 PM CDT up reply actions
We fucking suck.
1/14 on 3rd downs so far they were…
by DisplacedTexan on Oct 5, 2008 12:23 PM CDT up reply actions
I thought so too
but i just saw Diles 5 yards away from the play, so I feel better now.
by Tailgate Andy on Oct 5, 2008 12:23 PM CDT up reply actions
Yawn.
New week, same results. Fuck you, Richard Smith.
I haven't seen Frenchy
But I haven’t seen Bennet either. I’ve only seen Wilson and Petey.
by Tailgate Andy on Oct 5, 2008 12:25 PM CDT up reply actions
Oh, there he is.
I think I just found Frenchy.
by Tailgate Andy on Oct 5, 2008 12:25 PM CDT up reply actions
insanity
doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
that is Richard Smith’s defensive philosophy.
Not so far.
No running game, no passing game, the Colts have gone for it twice on fourth down and been succesful. I’d say it can only get better, but I know better than that.

Reeves
Needs to learn how to turn his head around to look for the fucking ball seriously… How many times have wee seen that this season ALREADY?
Dre all day
Too many to count
but enough to make me sick.
by Tailgate Andy on Oct 5, 2008 12:32 PM CDT up reply actions
Sage
throws on the run a LOT better than Schaub. He also can do the stretch and the PA out of the stretch that they never do with Schaub…..
hahah! you reading my mind!?!
I think Schaub has definitely improved throwing on the run, though. To me, it’s a matter of arm strength.
Nice end to the first quarter
It actually looked like we had an offense out there. Maybe we’ll start using the pass to set up the run.
Pass Interference
Marlon Jackson got in the way. New set of downs for the offense to work with, and we get to start over at the 4 yard line.
but it didn't come back to bite us
I was expecting an INT after having scored the TD.

But I already finished off the pizza...
and I’m just big-boned.
by Tailgate Andy on Oct 5, 2008 12:41 PM CDT up reply actions
I don't know why
But I think Jacoby was trying to weed out all the fans with heart problems.
by Tailgate Andy on Oct 5, 2008 12:48 PM CDT up reply actions
what. the fuck. was that.
Hey – the offense is looking good! Sage is doing great – so let’s get cute???
by HoustonDiehards on Oct 5, 2008 12:54 PM CDT reply actions
It would have worked
If Ahman had remembered to use his walker.
by Tailgate Andy on Oct 5, 2008 12:54 PM CDT up reply actions
Diles
can’t run with clark on that zone, and Manning made a good throw in front of Harrison.
I guess it's better than them targeting Petey or Frenchy
At least Diles is relatively close to the line of scrimmage.
by Tailgate Andy on Oct 5, 2008 1:00 PM CDT up reply actions
!!!
Are my eyes deceiving me? Did I really just see Frenchy back down a pass? Somethings brewing.
Dre all day
I've got a feeling that...
Once again, this game is going to come down to our butter-soft end of game defense. The Colts look very beatable of course, but how will our guys respond late in the 4th?
Also, did you guys see they had Mario, Earl, and Bulman on the line at once. Man, they’re trying everything, thank gawd.
Deljuan Robinson
started the game, if I am not mistaken.
NFL Network this morning said that Kubes might be on the hotseat so maybe
he’ll light a fire on his dc…
Even if he is on the hotseat
I think the DC will get fired first, buying Kubes at least another year.
by Tailgate Andy on Oct 5, 2008 1:09 PM CDT up reply actions
I don't think so,
But Schaub’s gonna have a really short leash.
by Tailgate Andy on Oct 5, 2008 1:17 PM CDT up reply actions
I know.
It’s like we actually want to win this game.
by Tailgate Andy on Oct 5, 2008 1:18 PM CDT up reply actions
or hand the ball of to Slaton.
basically the same thing.
by Tailgate Andy on Oct 5, 2008 1:19 PM CDT up reply actions
Agreed
Either wing it downfield, or kneel.
by DisplacedTexan on Oct 5, 2008 1:19 PM CDT up reply actions
Great
Great, great, great first half for the Texans. Can’t say they did much wrong. Let’s keep it up in the second half.
Dre all day
I guess we just needed a home game...
Starting with three on the road clearly isn’t easy, these guys seem motivated to win at home.

If Frenchy
Ever learns to turn his head, he could be good.
Nice first half by the Texans. Good pressure on Peyton (compared to what they did in the past) — let’s keep that up.
And win this motherfucker.
