Open Game Day Thread--Indianapolis v. Houston, Part Deux
As I type this at 8:53 a.m., I have no idea what the mood will be when this thread posts at 1:30 p.m. Celebratory? Joyful? Optimistic? Or will it be mournful? Full of dread? Questioning the existence of a kind and benevolent Creator?
If you haven't already swilled a gallon of bleach, continue to post your Comments about the game here. GO TEXANS!

Alright, we get the ball to start the Half
so lets score on the first drive and make Peyton force a couple of throws.
Odds that
Some numbskull starts a rumor that Johnson prefers Sage as QB if we win this one?
In other news: c’mon motherfuckers11!
Apparently Brackett tried to get in Leach's way.
That seems to be something to be avoided this game.

I was really hoping
We could have put some distance between us and the Colts on that drive, and take like 5 minutes off the clock.
Now for the d to hold.
finally
we are getting well deserved props from the announcers
Healthy and Turnover free 2008-09, and we win 11!
In a good way.
I guess running like he’s being chased would be more accurate.
by Tailgate Andy on Oct 5, 2008 1:54 PM CDT up reply actions
Two-headed RB
Just start rotating in Green and Slaton… the middle of that D is starting to give. I think we can grind out some yards AND eat up the clock.
Having said that, Kyle will call a flea-flicker.
Took a shot
Walk it off buddy! (Please!)

Kevin Bentley
Man, those extra pounds might not help him get Rhonda, but it sure does seem to be helping him on Special Teams.
They put a running back on him?
That’s suicide my friend.

Good third quarter
Would have been better if we’d scored a TD that last time out there, but we had the ball for like 13:00 of the quarter. I’ll take that.
MARIO! MARIO!
Did they really just leave it up to Joseph Addai to block Mario Williams?
L the fuck OL
Seriously
That was hilarious to watch. He just bulled him right into Manning.
by DisplacedTexan on Oct 5, 2008 2:13 PM CDT up reply actions
4th quarter, fellas. Here we go.
I am shocked at how well we’re playing defense. Let’s FINISH THIS THING.
Lost at home to Hull
If the Texans lose….
by DisplacedTexan on Oct 5, 2008 2:17 PM CDT up reply actions
The offense is really clicking right now.
After we score, I really want to see the D pin their ears back.
we need 6
I like our momentum, but a 3 score lead would be AWESOME!
Healthy and Turnover free 2008-09, and we win 11!
If we score a TD here - will we actually know what to do as fans?
Other than cheer I mean.
This is so foreign. Up 10 on a good team, still playing aggressively – and scoring six, and not a FG? Shit, I’ll shutup – don’t want to jinx it.
Shark.
Mario smells blood in the water. Manning better get them’ happy feet dancin’, bitch.

City deserved it
This is about H-town today.

OTROY
Super Steve. Give it to him.
And hell yea, DT. This is the point in games that we rarely get to, where Mario gets to go after the QB on every single down because they’re forced to pass.
No!
I want more sack opportunities. It’s stat-padding time for Mario.
This game...
is exactly the dominating performance we’ve been waiting to see from these Texans all season. Welcome home boys.
I don't know if I'd call it dominating
But definitely “complete.” Still, we have 4 minutes to play, and undoubtedly some of that time will feature our secondary.
Tennesee down 4.
In other news, Baltimore is starting to worry me.
Fear the Flacco
He’s two tons of fleet-footed Delaware fury.
by DisplacedTexan on Oct 5, 2008 2:38 PM CDT up reply actions
Two tons
and one eyebrow.
I like what I’ve seen from him so far though. I think he’s got a chance to be a pretty good QB some day.
this is turning out quite nicely
peyton is on my fantasy team, and the garbage yards count the same
Healthy and Turnover free 2008-09, and we win 11!
Ok then.
So that was about the single worst thing that could possibly have happened.
Thanks for that one, Sage. Next time fucking slide.
Also,
why did the colts choose right now to start being able to play run defense?
by Tailgate Andy on Oct 5, 2008 2:45 PM CDT up reply actions
I'm going to kill him.
I’m going to fucking murder him. This isn’t happening.
by DisplacedTexan on Oct 5, 2008 2:46 PM CDT up reply actions
He also
managed to get you up 17 on the Colts. I would be a little more upset that your o-line couldn’t block a stiff breeze.

by Ridiculous Matt on Oct 5, 2008 2:48 PM CDT up reply actions
Yeah?
How about the ridiculous stretch at the goal line? Or the completely ridiculous jump? That jump was a 10pt swing at least.
So no, that’s quite alright – I’ll blame him for being utterly retarded.
by DisplacedTexan on Oct 5, 2008 2:49 PM CDT up reply actions
The o-line has been crushing all game
It’s Sage who has made two completely boneheaded decisions that could end up costing us this game.
by tehGrindCrusher on Oct 5, 2008 2:52 PM CDT up reply actions
Let's see some fucking clock management.
I don’t care how cliche it sounds, play with a god damn sense of urgency you clowns.
Well I'm off to the bar.
I can’t believe what I just witnessed. I am completely without words or thoughts.
A. Good news
you’re not a Chiefs fan.
B.If you guys don’t want the guy that actually threw for touchdowns and moved your offense then tried to do too much and would prefer the guy that can’t stay healthy nor throw downfield effectively, can we have him? We’ll give you Damon Huard. Deal? Eh? Eh?

Uhm
The Chiefs have won a game this season.
by tehGrindCrusher on Oct 5, 2008 3:03 PM CDT up reply actions
so I take you guys
are still sold on Schaub as the prophet like difference maker as you have been since his arrival?

by Ridiculous Matt on Oct 5, 2008 3:04 PM CDT up reply actions
Did you see Schaub's stat line last week?
29/41 307 yds and not a single turnover. He is much better than Sage.
by tehGrindCrusher on Oct 5, 2008 3:05 PM CDT up reply actions
And the weeks before?

by Ridiculous Matt on Oct 5, 2008 3:06 PM CDT up reply actions
Those two games
Are the exception, not the rule. He looked bad as did the entire team (with the exception of Mario and Slaton).
by tehGrindCrusher on Oct 5, 2008 3:08 PM CDT up reply actions
Again
if you guys would rather have him, I think that’s great! Trade us Sage for a fifth rounder! You don’t need the bum that helped you go up 17 point on the Colts! The guys that misses games when he stubs his toe is a much better option! He’s a leader! A prophet!
I’m a Chiefs fan but I always root for the Texans. That was a horrible way to lose the game. My condolonces. I know we’ve won a game, but seriously, play the Broncos. You can win if you play the Broncos D. We’re a much worse football team than yours.
Mizzou: Not desperately hanging on to a bygone winning tradition since 1900.
by Ridiculous Matt on Oct 5, 2008 3:09 PM CDT up reply actions
Well
Thanks for the condolences.
We’ll have to agree to disagree on who’s better between teh Schaub and Sage. It’s not that I don’t rate Sage, it’s just that I (and most people on these boards) think that Schaub is better.
If it were me, I’d be happy to give you Sage for a second rounder.
by tehGrindCrusher on Oct 5, 2008 3:11 PM CDT up reply actions
So what is it about Schaub
that you’ve seen in two seasons that convinces you he’s really great? Because I don’t just see “Schaub is better” on here,I see very little criticism of him. For instance, if Schaub had just committed the negative football that Sage did, I wouldn’t hear as much, I’d hear more about the O-line or the defense. But since it’s Sage, he’s the scapegoat.
Is there a reason for it?
Fourth rounder and if I had the GM job (which might be open soon, I’ll drop a resume), and you’ve got a deal.
Mizzou: Not desperately hanging on to a bygone winning tradition since 1900.
by Ridiculous Matt on Oct 5, 2008 3:14 PM CDT up reply actions
Fourth rounder?
You’d be a good GM if you got a qb like Sage for that. But no deal.
I don’t think people here are too easy on Schaub. There were plenty of people criticizing him in the first two games, and he deserved it. But it’s also true to say that the O-line was not doing too well back then either. Both of those things are true.
In general, I like Schaub better because he’s got a stronger arm, he’s a bit more accurate, and I think he’s a little bit calmer. He’s still got some improving to do, and last year he tended to try to force the ball too much. I also think Schaub moves around the pocket a little better than Sage.
Whether or not he’s “really great” as you ask is something we won’t know for a few more years. But I do think he’s better than Sage. Not light-years better, but still better.
by tehGrindCrusher on Oct 5, 2008 3:21 PM CDT up reply actions
like i said below
No one wants to play for Shaub in my opinion
by TexanFanFromTheStart on Oct 5, 2008 3:31 PM CDT up reply actions
...
If the defense would have played like this against the Jaguars, Schaub would have put us up by 17 against the Jaguars.
Schaub lead three 80+-yard touchdown drives last week. Our defense didn’t force a single turnover or give us a short field the entire game. Today? The defense did force punts. They did come up with a turnover. Rosenfels’ offense put up the same score with more help from the running game, and he handed the Colts 17 points.
I don’t get what you’re trying to prove.
Seriously
This team played one hell of a game, right up until Sage’s mafia friends called him during the 4th quarter regarding their hedged bets.
maybe
I got a little carried away, but man o man what a missed oppurtunity. anyway, I’m glad we played good for most of the game
GO TEXANS!!!!!!!!!
If Rosie
Just holds on to the ball on Indy’s 36 or so, Kris Brown puts another three on the board and this game is over.
It’s so fucking bad it almost doesn’t compute. My mind feels like it’s underwater or something.
This week sucked so hard in so many ways.
Not to sound rude
but if anyone noticed. Andre Johnson actually played the hardest he ever played when Sage is at QB. I get the impression that none of the Texans really want Shaub to start. And I think that someone wanted Sage to throw the game because Kubiak loves Shaub for some reason. Don’t get me wrong I love the Texans and Shaub is good but I still think Sage is 10 times better.
by TexanFanFromTheStart on Oct 5, 2008 3:24 PM CDT reply actions
That's ridiculous
You’re entitled to your opinion, but to think that someone wanted the team to go 0-4 in the worst possible way just because Kubes wants Schaub to start is nothing short of complete idiocy. No offense.
Andre Johnson played hard for Carr. He plays hard for Schaub. He’d play hard if you or I were the qb.
And Sage is not 10x better than Schaub.
by tehGrindCrusher on Oct 5, 2008 3:32 PM CDT up reply actions
None taken
It’s just the way I feel.
by TexanFanFromTheStart on Oct 5, 2008 3:33 PM CDT up reply actions
Well in my opinion
I would still start Sage. His starting record is 4-2. He had that amazing comeback and almost won against the Titans. I think Shaub is decent but I just don’t like the way he plays.
by TexanFanFromTheStart on Oct 5, 2008 3:37 PM CDT up reply actions
There's a lot of reasons why
judging a qb by his starting record is a bad idea.
Exhibit a: Vince Young.
by tehGrindCrusher on Oct 5, 2008 3:40 PM CDT up reply actions
I don't like to argue
but ya’ll make alot of sense but im still entitled to my opinion. It’s just how i feel
by TexanFanFromTheStart on Oct 5, 2008 3:41 PM CDT up reply actions
Wow you are a dick
you were talking the same kind of trash on the Stampede Blue thread before the comeback. If you show up at Stampede Blue doing this again I’ll delete the comments and talk to BBS about banning you.
I ain't tryin' do you, I'm just tryin do me
Last album did two, I'm just tryin' do three
-Young Jeezy "I Luv It"
Maybe people shouldn't gratuitously...
Rip on Vince Young for no reason. Because I’m only happy to remind you of how bad the Texans are.
So watch you mouth, and show the Titans some respect, and I won’t feel the need to do that.
Do you disagree with
The notion that W-L record isn’t a good way to measure a quarteback’s ability? Or with the idea that VY is a good example of why this is the case?
Or did you just come here to show how much a dick you can be.
And, as you might expect, it sucks to be winless. Good for you that your team is not.
by tehGrindCrusher on Oct 5, 2008 6:12 PM CDT up reply actions
Nope
I can’t think of one thing Sage did today that Schaub couldn’t have done.
Actually, Schaub wouldn’t have RETARDEDLY dove with one hand on the ball and 4 minutes left while up by 10. Schaub would’ve slid, keeping the clock running, and allowing Brown to kick a game-clinching FG.
did we piss off the football gods along the way
why dont we get any luck with injuries, wins, and keeping a 17 point lead with 4 minutes, any decent football player in the defensive secondary, shit i can go on and on.
the colts planned it
They said “I wonder how big a hole we can dig ourselves before we climb out of it?” They waited a while before they started climbing, but I hear Peyton & Freeny & Co like a challenge. It’s kinda like a veteran pitcher walking the bases loaded in spring training just to see if he could get himself out of it.
well, there is alway next year
if we lose one of the next three, its not worth watching until next year
Holy god
I can easily say that if this team improves every week like it has the past two we will have a really good team by the time we play the Lions.
Dear god could that have been any more heartbreaking.
