Around SBN: Raiders' GM Begins The Purge

Ask Stampede Blue

Big Blue Shoe has been MIA for the last two days and I really like answering questions on these (and normaly field some when BBS posts them), so here it is.

I'll knock off the obvious one. Here is today's injury report and Coach Dungy's early word was Kelvin Hayden won't play, Reggie Wayne will.

What all do you want to know about the Colts before the matchup Sunday?

Ask Away.

If yall could go ahead and rest Peyton this week, that would be great.

Two Q's for ya

#1 I know he’s had some injury issues – but Joseph Addai just flat out seems to be less effective this season. How do you see it?

#2 Marvin Harrison is without question less effective this season – do you think Tony Dungy is hurting the team by not putting Anthony Gonzalez in at Harrison’s spot? There’s something to be said for loyalty of course – but Gonzalez looks great, and he’s not at all a guy who should be limited to the slot, or to relieve Harrison when it’s time for him to go sit on the bench all by himself.

by HoustonDiehards on Nov 13, 2008 1:33 AM CST reply actions

those are the two great debates raging right now

Brutal schedule of run Ds, makeshift OL early on and Addai struggles with a heavy workload. He’s not a workhorse back, he’s a great 1A guy. Westbrook is the player I compare him to optimistically. Addai was getting 80% of the carries before he got hurt. That’s not going to work out well. Even with the lowest YPC in the league the run game is still useful, because they are converting short yardage very well (20 of 27) and have yet to fumble.

Marvin is frustrating. He can still get open. That’s clear to anyone that watches the Colts, but Peyton isn’t hitting him as accurately and he’s not catching the tough balls he use to. Ideally they would put Gonzo and Marvin on the field at the same time, but they like their 2 TE sets with Clark and Gijon Robinson too much. I believe them when they say Marvin out there gives them the best chance to win, but I’m also resigning myself to this more than likely being Marvin’s last year in Indy (he’s owed 13 million next year and 11.4 the year after)

Sigh.

I knew I shouldn’t have brought that up about Harrison and Addai.

Is it true that Manning, Harrison, and Addai ALL had their best games of the year on Sunday, numbers-wise? Like Grind said – we are quite a potent elixir.

box score stat wise

but FO thought that Peyton was much more impressive against the Ravens, Pats and Steelers, but they adjust for opponent.

Obvious

How excited are you to see Rosenchappa starting at QB for us this week?

So you're saying that now I have to think of some witty Sig that will be applicable across all the SBN sites? Go TexanHornStros!

137 yards per game

but seriously

Rosenfels was playing great for the first 55 minutes. The description I heard that I liked the best was something like "In five minutes Rosenfel singlehandedly lost the game he had singledhandedly won for the first 55.

You're right

I mean, against Baltimore, I thought he did a much better job of spreading his shittiness across the entire 60 minutes.

Somehow...

I think I prefer the heartbreaking five minutes. It limits the amount of time my blood pressure is dangerously high. During the Baltimore game, I think I had two heart attacks. During the Colts game, I just wished myself dead for 20 minutes.

Yay, sports.

Re: Differences

The Colts game was like being a frontrunner for the entire race, only to break your ankle and get hit by a truck, while onlookers pissed on your motionless body – mere steps from the finish line.

The Ravens game was like being submerged up to your neck in a vat of hot water, while the temperature of the water was slowly increased to a rolling boil – and simultaneously being drowned and cooked while people pissed in the pot.

Either way it sucked.

Life As A Texans Fan

May have never been summed up better than by your two analogies above.

Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...

Really?

The Colts game was like the biggest tease of any lifetime. “It’s right there!!! Let’s hold on to it!! No….no…where are you going?!?!?!” /blueballed

At least in the Raven’s game we were never really in it, and, therefore, couldn’t have our heart ripped out so violently.

The Colts final injury report is in

Everyone is questionable.

The Colts don’t lie about injuries, but they will tell you the least they can possibly get away with. This week all 10 players that missed any practice are listed as questionable. Here is the list :

Antoine Bethea, Anthony Gonzalez, Robert Mathis, Reggie Wayne, Daniel Muir, Keiwan Ratliff (these 6 all practiced on Friday which is the best indicator if they are going to be able to play),

Bob Sanders (He took his normal day off on Wednesday, practiced Thursday then showed up on the report as missing practice Friday with a knee injury)

Roy Hall, Kelvin Hayden, Tom Santi (none of these 3 practiced this week, they won’t play)
