Ahman Green Out For Next Two (2) Weeks?
That seems to be the early word. After the injury-plagued disaster that has defined his time in H-Town, this hardly qualifies as a surprise. It does, however, sting.
Steve Slaton was and continues to be the clear No. 1 on the depth chart, but Ahman Green has been very solid (when he's actually made it onto the field) in spelling Slaton, particularly in short yardage situations. Now, your Houston Texans will have to prepare for the first Monday Night Football game in franchise history with Ryan Moats as Slaton's backup. That's a bit scary.
Rest assured that Ahman will be doing everything he can to avoid missing any time. He's got every reason to heal as fast as possible.

zbs...
Time to call into play the magic of the Alex Gibbs ZBS, which makes gods of mortals, steak out of shit salad, and Einsteins out of VY’s… well maybe not THAT great! Saddle up, bucaroos!! Moats better bring his big-boy pants.

Slaton proved he is a gamer, playing banged up (bruised chest) after Green went down
so the Texans are now razor thin at RB. Like it or not, we will likely get to see what Moats is made of next Monday. Green is washed up and we need to part ways after the season. Yeah we need more help on D, but we need another quality RB too. Super Steve has exceeded expectations and the last thing we want to do is run him into the ground.
We could benefit from a last place schedule next year, but it would be a lot more fun to win a few more down the stretch starting next Monday.

Green's stats haven't shown it
But he’s been playing a key role for us lately.
I know, I know, contract etc…
I remember when we had 2nd and 1 in the fourth and Slaton couldn’t get it done — I think Green would have gotten us that first down.

You are absolutely correct, a healthy Ahman Green is our only decent short yardage back
and he has converted many short yardage situations in the last 4 games. His inability to stay healthy enough to contribute is why we need to get rid of his massive salary. He is likely done for the season, and there is no reason to believe that next year will be any better than this year. Release him, take the salary cap hit for the rest of his signing bonus and move on. Do the same with Frenchy. Use the money to lock up Dunta. Bennett & Molden can more than make up for Reeves. Draft another RB next year in rounds 1 thru 3. Forget free agents with either not enough durability or mileage left, like Ahman & Chris Brown.
That 4th quarter situation you referred to exposed our weakness in short yardage, BUT Slayton was playing hurt because Green (knee) and Moats (ankle) were too hurt to be on the field. A healthy Slaton may have been able to convert that situation and salt away the game earlier, but at his size short yardage will never be his strength.
If Slayton and/or Moats do not heal quickly the RB position for the Jacksonville game could be a disaster. I expect Slayton to make a game effort, and hopefully the painkillers will allow him to give his usual performance. I shudder to think where we would be this year without him.
GO TEXANS!!!!!!!!!!

If Slaton is hurt
I suspect we’ll bring back Darius Walker.
Yikes.
