Jared Allen Should Know Who The Hell Kubes Is Now

A $50,000.00 fine hardly offsets losing your franchise QB for at least a month, but at least it shows that the league thinks Jared Allen's two (2) shots to The Schaub's knee were dirty. It ain't much, but it's something, I guess.

The worst part is that the team that should suffer the most for the player's conduct (Minnesota) won't feel a thing, whereas the team that's suffering the most from Allen's conduct (Houston) has little recourse. Again, I reiterate the propriety of my proposed return to Hammurabi's Code for situations such as this: Give Super Mario a machete and a clear shot at Allen's knee. That'd be justice.

Big props to Chester Pitts

For separating homeboy’s shoulder. I like that attitude.

When I'm on the mic, I'm like global warming, you can't ignore me.

And over at the daily dipshit norseman...

…they compare the Schaub hits to the Justin Tuck hit. Sigh.

Along the same lines, on Sportscenter a few hours ago they showed video of all 3 plays

but then ALL of the ensuing discussion was about the Tuck hit. I realize that ESPN is in Bristol, Conn. and the New York football Giants are much bigger news there than the Texans ever will be, but Tuck’s hit was a form football tackle. Maybe he drove the QB into the ground more forcefully than necessary, but all in all it was a fairly clean play. The discussion was basically that the hit did not deserve to be fined. I agree. On the other hand, BOTH of Allen’s shots were extremely cheap, illegal as defined in the NFL rulebook, and cowardly. Not a word from the panel at ESPN about either low blow. If those hits had been on Eli Manning, I am sure the outrage would have been nonstop on ESPN. No respect for the Texans.

Props to Pitts for taking it to Allen, in a very legal way, and getting a small piece of payback. All the Vikings fans that say we are whining about these plays need to check themselves. Those plays don’t belong in football at any level.

I think ESPN missed an opportunity

On NFL live, they were doing the same thing. Mark Schlereth was apoplectic that Justin Tuck had been fined for his tackle. On Mike and Mike, Golic was the same way. It was a great tackle, it just happened to be against a quarterback right after he’d thrown the ball.

What they should have done is compare and contrast the two hits. It’s one thing to make a form tackle. it’s another thing to go after a QB’s knees. Hell, it’s bad going after any NFL player’s knees. I know we’re supposed to be a ZBS team, which involves cut blocking, but it’s one thing to go after a D-lineman’s knees when he’s looking at you, and he knows its coming compared to what happened to Schaub.

I definitely like the attitude that Winston and Pitts seem to have. I don’t think that Kubes will knowingly let retaliations like that happen though. I think it’s a good thing to have a coach who’s going to try and beat the other team without stooping to their level. If Pitts and Winston are going to get revenge whenever Schaub gets injured though, they’re going to need to do it on their own, without waiting for Kubiak to confirm three days later that, yes, the hit was a cheap shot.

Now the NFL has rescinded the Tuck fine

More proof that the talking heads at ESPN were missing the real story here. Clean tackle that draws a flag and a $7,500 (rescinded) fine, or 2 submarine shots that are NOT flagged, but later draw a $50K fine from the league office. This proves to me that the officiating needs upgrading, and that the dorks at ESPN don’t recognize a real story.

I like Kubiak’s character, but if the wins do not start rolling in, he is in trouble of becoming an ex-head coach. Too many mistakes on offense, bad scheming on defense. It does not look good right now. I am nothing but a diehard fan, but the realist in me does not feel good about today’s game. Either Kubiak gets his guys to be meaner, or Baltimore will Pittsburgh us.

GO TEXANS, win one for the K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
