How our 2009 Offseason should look
now season is ending and texans can go 8-8 or 7-9...coulda been a better season but injuries, and turnovers have killed us...now time to look at needs...I believe our WR's TE QB LB's dont need any help...We need to focus on DB's, a Pass rusher (preferably to replace Weaver, maybe deal weaver to someone else for wtvr) maybe another OL and a big back
here is how our draft should go
Round:
1 - Secondary, CB or Safety, or Pass Rusher
2 - Secondary or OL Help
3 - Big Back or Speed Rusher
4 - Whichever of Secondary, RB, OL, and Speed Rusher you didnt get
5-7 Anyone...Backup QB, OL, Safety, LB Depth

Team needs
You’re right on with the team needs. I think what position the Texans draft is going to be largely determined by the talent available during the round in question. This is a team whose current talent pool is better than it has ever been, but it still needs to draft the best talent available – with a large focus on positions of need.

Do you think Bob McNair likes hamburger meat?
Because that’s all we can get for Weaver, I’m afraid.
Also, our offseason should look like the time that we get rid of Richie Smith.

true about talent
but even if the best talent out there in the first round is a QB, or RB…i still think we should get teh best avialable secondary guy or pass rusher (unloess u know u can get him in the 2nd round (doubtful))…about weaver…i could c a team giving up a 4th rounder for him

Also
The texans might wanna look to trade sage this offseason…if it comes to teh point in the draft and they can maybe take a guy like harell, the id trade sage for picks…
(example: its the 2nd round and you know u can get harell in the 3hrd…then trade sage for a 2nd rounder or 3rd and draft harell)

If we get a third rounder for Sage
I’ll be pleasantly surprised. I don’t think we can do much better than that after the season he’s had.

1st – best available player
2nd- best availabe player
3rd- best available player
4th- best available player
5th – best available player
6th – best available player
7th – best available player
I think you get the point! The texans are not that talented to try and cherry pick players. This team still lacks dept in most areas so they still need help everywhere!

didn't agree with this philosophy last year
but this year, I think this is best.
We are an above average team in most areas, and help in all areas would be greatly appreciated.
The problem is, what if the best available is QB in round 1? If trading the pick fails, thats the only scenario I’d dump this philosophy and go best available defensive player.
Please draft some defensive stars for the next DC.
