Haynesworth
"Luke from South Bend, IN writes: Sorry I missed the chat, but it looked like it was fun. My question actually involves two AFC South teams. I know the Colts typically don't go out and get free agents, but what would you think about them throwing some money at Haynesworth next year? A team with few weaknesses, and they'll have some money freed up if Marvin is gone.
Paul Kuharsky: "Some" money won't cut it. I figure Haynesworth's 2009 cap number will likely be around $6 million. The Colts stand at $2.9 over the cap right now. So we're talking about clearing $9 million just for him, before dealing with any other personnel or contracts. That's not going to happen. They generally aren't a player in free agency, and they really don't get involved with huge money guys.
I could see the Texans chasing Haynesworth if he makes ot to free agency."
I was reading over Kuharsky's latest blogs and noticed this little gem, now I normally take everything he says with a grain of salt and will with this but it got me thinking. Now I could never see the Texans making a run at Haynesworth with the team being very big on character but we do have the tumor that is T. Johnson and I'm not going to lie I'm scared. If this dirty, cheap shot taking, fat bastard inks with the team that got me into loving football I may have to abandon my beloved team in favor of another team without the face stomping antics.
Like I said I don't see it happening ever but I'm drawing the line in the sand now it seems. Here's to hoping we get better without having people that (in my opinion) shouldn't even be in the league anymore.

the texans won't go for hayneworth
he has talked way too much shit about this team. i don’t think any coach, even richard smith, is dumb enough to think it’s a good idea to sign a player who has consistently called your team and your players bad
For The Love Of All That Is Decent And Holy
I can’t see it happening. Haynesworth’s been a force the last few years, but I have to think Bob McNair’s premium on character is far too high for him to ever sign off on bringing the face stomper to Houston.
My money’s on him being a Raider or Cowboy in ’09.
Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...
I have a better chance of signing with the Texans
We’re not just talking about a big contract here… we’re talking about THE BIGGEST defensive player contract in the history of the NFL. There is ZERO CHANCE we sign Haynesworth.
That said – the face-stomping happened quite a long time ago, and all his character issues have happened on the football field. It’s not like you can compare him to Pacman or Chris Henry. It doesn’t bother me in the slightest that he’s said horrible things about the Texans… I think this team NEEDS some players with nasty attitudes who hates their opponents.
If we signed a guy like Pacman – yeah, I’d have a huge problem with that. But if by some miracle we ended up signing Fat Albert, I wouldn’t like it – but not because of his history – but because of how much money we’d be tying up in a guy who I really think isn’t going to be the same player after he gets his big money deal.

Isn't Fat Albert
More of a 3-4 type? Or is he good enough to play tackle in either system?
When I'm on the mic, I'm like global warming, you can't ignore me.

No he plays in a 4-3
Though I have no doubt he could make a similar impact to the ones Shaun Rogers and Kris Jenkins made in their first as a Nose in a 3-4 scheme.
Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words—"mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

I really think the Packers should make a run at him
We need a game-breaker at D-Tackle after this year seeing that position go from a strength to a weakness. Ted Thompson doesn’t sign many free agents but the ones he has have turned out pretty well. (Woodson, Chillar, Ryan Pickett up ’til this year). We will likely lead the NFL in cap room again this offseason especially if we cut Chad Clifton and Ryan Pickett.

As much as I hate Fat Albert
I don’t think I’d be against bringing him to Houston. We’d have a dominant line regardless of if we even added anyone. Mario and Okoye could get a lot of 1-on-1 situations, and that in itself is scary to opposing offenses. Imagine if we also take a speed rusher during the first day of the draft.
wooohooo
I think he’d be a great signing but for the moeny we would spend on him, we need to fill other positions more importantly….

Mcnair, back up the brinks truck for albert hanesworth! This guy is a difference between a 8-8 season and a 12-4 season. He will be worth every penny!
But… he won’t be the same player for us. Different coaches, and – he just won’t be as good when he isn’t playing for a huge contract.
He’ll go to Dallas or Oakland or the Jets… or one of those other teams that think spending a bazillion dollars is the key to winning.
