Howdy BRB!
Hey guys, I'm incredibly happy to be on board and hope to provide minor nuggets of information for the rabid Houston Texans fan base. I'm not new to football, but I'm new to this whole newfangled blogging thing, so if you have any suggestions/comments/ruthless heckling - go for it.
Now folks, I'm here for you guys and gals, so we are going to set up a poll to see what you want to read over the next couple weeks. Vote away, and if you don't like your options, let it be known in the comments!
Again, thanks for having me on board, and I hope to provide a little entertainment for the BRB community in the doldrum that is the NFL offseason.

Another Suggestion
Contract/cap analysis, if you’re up to it. For example, we all want Travis Johnson gone, but it would be great to know what the cap hit would be.
Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...

I voted "Other"
Specifically, all of the above.
When I'm on the mic, I'm like global warming, you can't ignore me.

Ditto that
And add a dash of what Timmay suggested above re: cap hits, etc.

welcome aboard
Now which DC would be a good fit w/ Kubiak and our personnel?
And in your best case scenario of new DC, what would his top priorities be for free agency/draft. And be specific. Use another sheet if necessary.
Please draft some defensive stars for the next DC.

Im going to do the DC analysis,
but I’m waiting for more firings – I need a good talent pool to nit-pick through. The cap thing will be more difficult, cause I’ve never done anything like that before.

This is not a cap analysis, but I found 2 pertinent articles that may be of interest
This is from inthebullseye.com and is an unofficial 2008 Texans salary list:

This is a discussion of the upcoming cap:

Thanks, OTD
I was aware of the work that ITB does; they’re great. Hadn’t read Burge’s article on the salary cap though; that was mighty informative.

You're welcome Tim & Happy New Year
Hope your bowl picks are going better than mine. I’m 17-8 and hanging on by a thread.
The off season is only into it’s 4th day and plenty of activity already. The DC search, free agency, and the draft will give all the BRB’ers plenty to discuss for the next 4 months.

Jeez
Shows how much I know…. Of all of the things I put on the poll, I was pretty sure that people would be the LEAST interested in the Free Agents. This is why polls exist.

I voted for Safeties...
but what I really want to see is you contact the front office and threaten them with bodily harm if they don’t take Taylor Mays.
Yay, sports.

By the way
I love how that site differentiates between DTs and LBs in 3-4s and 4-3s. I don’t think I’ve seen that in mock drafts before.

That's new
One of the reasons I like this website is that each year they try to add a few more predictive variables to the equation. Bunch of freakin’ math geeks.
And on draft day, they will actually have the model changing live after each pick is made.
