Rosevelt Colvin?

He's looking for work.  Tis the season for unadulterated speculation and conjecture, so...should the Texans be interested?

Foot injury
IF he was healthy and IF he didn't demand a king's ransom, I'd take a look at him.

But here's the meat and potatoes:

  • Can we afford to take a risk on an oft-injured veteran player in his 30s -- again?  No.
  • Can we afford to pay him based on his past production?  No.
  • Can we get the same productivity from a younger, albeit inexperienced guy like Diles?  Maybe.
I like the fact that he could bring a winning attitude and definitely be a mentor to this young, burgeoning defense... but I think it would probably end up being a high risk, med reward type deal.

Ahman Green ring a bell?

To DE or not to DE... that is the question.

What's your point?
He's still in his thirties.

Fuck only 30, he's only getting older.

To DE or not to DE... that is the question.

My point is
He could still have 4-7 years left.  I wouldn't mind signing him to a 2-3 year deal worth very little money.

That's just it
He ain't gonna be "worth very little money".  He's gonna command a pretty good payday - all this for an oft-injured player who was cut from a team in need of LBs in their prime.

We're trying to dig ourselves out of dead money - and a deal he's gonna be looking for has dead money written all over it.

To DE or not to DE... that is the question.

I believe the problem is that Rosevelt Colvin does not subscribe to such a newsletter.
We can be critical of the draft picks, but in the end we always support the new Texan.

speaking of speculation
Lions waived (or released, whatever) CB Fernando Bryant.  Is he good?  I've heard of him before, but nothing notable.  Would he be worth picking up if he requests $3 mil or less?

Although, since the Lions got rid of him, I guess that's not a great sign.

And regarding Colvin: personally I like the guy as a player, but I don't think we need to concern ourselves with another player who has injury troubles.
