Reasons to drink the kool aid

There are a lot of different opinions on how we screwed up this draft.  Think of it from Smithiak's point of view, was there a pick at each spot we had in the draft that would have made all of US happy?  We all know that is not possible, so whatever their picks were, some group of people would be screaming we missed some Longhorn backup waterboy.

So the ones that are paid and responsible to make the picks did just that.  And they did it last year.  And the year before, where we have a significant number of roster players and starters from those drafts.  An arguement can be made that in 05 we were bad enough that it wasn't hard to get a lot of starters from the 06 and 07 drafts, but even if that is true, we are at least moving in the right direction (down in the draft!).

I say we thank the front office for their picks, and welcome all the new starters and competition to our roster.  Just heal most of the injuries from last year and we are 10-6 with that roster.  I think the Colts are on the decline, and this may be our year against VY.  The Jags have the dreaded "expectations" and we are a last place team with nowhere to go but up!

kool aid

Hi everyone…newbie to the blog…long time oiler/texan fan. I have been hoping since the expansion draft for us to solidy the trenches. I believe we have taken steps in that direction w/the Denver trade, draft picks etc. Gibbs, maturation of existing young lineman, Brown, hopefully a healed Spenser at guard, it should be fun to watch us chew up some clock. I am real excited about Okam. I have always would have liked to have someone like Ted Washington to clog up the middle. We have had trouble in the past stopping the run w/larger lines dominating us…I think Okam can be an answer. Tie up a couple of lineman and free up our LB’S.

I think opposing teams should consider it a victory if no uniform parts go missing during the game. urp

URP?

Is Frank prone to eating parts of other people’s clothing? A la the Billy goat?

Re: do's insight

Thanks for contributing. I think you’ll find this blog a perfect outlet for all your rants and raves.

It will be interesting to see if Okam can crack the rotation in the middle. If he could play with a Ted Washington like tenacity, then I think we really found something.

Man, I can’t wait ‘til camp starts.

Re: Expectations

We’re only expected to be mediocre on account of the division. Jags and Indy, well, there supposed to be there. It’ll be good to fly under the radar for one more season. If we can split with Indy and the Jags and take both from the Titans, then we would definitely be looking at a shot at the wild card.

Staying healthy is going to be the key.

expectations

Scary part of this year could be that we are exponentially better and that won’t be reflected in the record. Killer schedule opening up. If we can somehow be at 500 the first 4-6, it could mean meaningful games in December. Been years since I could say that…Oilers early 90’s.

Agree

We only beat two quality opponents last year. But part of that was injuries, which killed us in the middle of the season. A deeper roster will help with that problem.

God...

I love hearing positive shit from everybody….Do, welcome. I’m expecting big things this next year. Schaub, has more experience, we have help on the O-line, and I think the D has improved….which is awesome. And I am going to really enjoy hearing from you all during this next season….looks like they extended the contract, and I’ll be commuting for a few more years. 12 days on , 9 off…so I’ll get to a few games anyway. I don’t know if it’s you guys or what, but I can’t wait for this to get rolling. ...

Bob's horse finished 9th this weekend...

If we have the 9th best record in the NFL, I’ll be more than satisfied…

Yep

As long as they don’t shoot any players on the field immediately following the game. Except Travis.

So you're saying that now I have to think of some witty Sig that will be applicable across all the SBN sites? Go TexanHornStros!
