And The Last Shall Be...Second? Alex Brink Signs!
While Brink is almost surely destined for the practice squad this season (I'm still not buying Kubes' pitch that he's going to carry three QBs, Quinn Gray or no Quinn Gray), let's all simply rejoice that Smithiak got another one into the fold well before training camp. And let us also note that somewhere, Shane Boyd curses the heavens.

Told you Shane Boyd should be afraid...
Alex Brink had a more accomplished college career than Boyd – and from everything I read Boyd isn’t a “pocket passer”. Unless Kubes has visions of breaking out the playbook from Jake the Snake’s days in Denver, I don’ t see Shane making the team.
Is that wrong of me?

3 qbs
Yeah, I don’t buy that whole thing either… I just did a little bit on this as well, and I don’t recall Kubes ever saying anything about Boyd. Looks like the #3 job is Brink’s to lose.

practice squad
the thing i keep wondering is what kind of contract Brink signed. if he ends up on the practice squad, is this contract worth anything? i guess he’d keep whatever signing bonus, but if they try to move him to the practice squad, he has to pass through waivers first.

May clear waivers but why risk it?
If Brink was not drafted until the 7th round he may clear waivers, but if he has the potential Kubes sees, then give him the #3 job and groom him for the future. Sage may well be gone after next year, and good teams are always grooming a young QB for the future. His college career shows that he has the talent to potentially succeed in the NFL. If Schaub survives the first half unscathed and it appears that our chances for the playoffs are not good then we should look to move Sage for a #3 pick (or better hopefully) to a contending team that needs a QB insurance policy. If, however, we play up to our ability as a team and have a tangible chance for the postseason, then it would be hard to rationalize dealing Sage with no experienced backup. If that scenario plays out, we maybe get nothing for Sage if he leaves, but it would be worth it to all the fans to see the thrill of playing meaningful games late in the season fighting for a playoff spot.
Here’s hoping that Schaub stays healthy, Brink is the QB of the future and the Texans are in the playoff hunt this year. GO TEXANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

brink & the roster
keeping brink on the active roster is gonna compress another position, but those are the breaks if you’re carrying 3 QBs.
does anyone that there’s any chance that Rosenfels could be traded mid-season?
is Brink’s ideal rookie season just holding the clip board and learning the system?

Alex Brinks
If Kubiak said he is gonna keep three QB’s, then I suppose I take him at his word. I’m not sure if Brinks could clear waivers to be placed on the PS. It would be nice to give him a year on the PS to clear a spot on the active roster for another player,
