As The Rosenfels Rotates...

PFT, via the East Valley Tribune, is reporting that Kurt Warner has started talks seeking an extension.  Next year, Sage Rosenfels will be in the exact same situation.  Kurt Warner's deal this year could set the market for what it would cost for the Texans to keep Sage around in the years to come.  There was a lot of talk about trading him before the draft, and specifically what his value was.  Now, we'll get a better idea of what his relative value truly is.

Doubtful...

Unless Matt has more injury trouble, I don’t think we’ve got a shot to re-sign Sage. He wants to start, and this next contract may be his last, so he’d want to go somewhere he’ll at least be in competition for the job, IMO. Can’t say I blame him, though I would much prefer to get something out of him, rather than pull a SD/Michael Turner deal and get nothing but fond memories.

So, I'm bangin this chick, right...

Re: Doubtful

Completely agree. Assuming he has the option to start somewhere or back up a QB on the starting bubble, there’s no way he returns to Houston next year. I really think we’re continuing to miss out on a great opportunity to get value for him now in trade.

Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...

re: Value in trade (prediction)

Quinn Gray impresses Kubes enough that he can be our #2.
The Schaub is lighting defenses on fire, never missing a snap.
A playoff-capable team loses QB1 and/or QB2 around Week 5-6, making them desparate for the best possible QB2 available.
Smithiak prison rapes said team & trades Sage for what my friend calls “stripper money” (i.e. R2 draft pick).

So you're saying that now I have to think of some witty Sig that will be applicable across all the SBN sites? Go TexanHornStros!

Stripper money

The things I’ve seen strippers do for R2 draft picks would blow your mind.

Feel free to post pictures

Just make sure to do it on Matt’s site. I don’t think I could handle having both blocked by the web nannies.

Gray is on a one year deal….so he will basically be in the same boat as rosey. He didn’t get the chance to compete for a starting job like he thought he would before coming here….but I would guess he’ll at least try for a chance at a starting gig again. There is a good chancethat we could be without a vet back-up next year. If Schaub has removed any doubts about being our long term QB could Alex Brink be Schaub’s personal clip-board holder….a la Jim Sorgi? I hope that Schaub plays well enough that Kubes is OK going with Brink as the backup.

I'm still not sold on The Schaub's

durability. He seemed to get hurt a lot last year, or is it just me? Be nice. I haven’t been here in a while…..

He’ll be a lot more durable if the team can run the ball and protect the qb better. I expect them to improve in both capacities this year. If we can keep Haynesworth from falling on him, he should be allright.

Lest we forget....

The crushing way-lay Drayton Florence put on him in his earhole after a turnover. That might’ve been the worst of them. The Haynesworth deal was just an awkward fall with a 340 lb. behemoth as the cherry on the sundae.

So, I'm bangin this chick, right...

Re: Drayton Florence

I’ll never forgive that SOB for that cheap shot. And now he’s a Jag.

i’m hoping that Daniels or Leach gets a shot at him. Maybe one of the WRs can level him.

Back to the House of Pain

Kubes should offer up a bounty – Glanville style. Line one of the Brandons up in the slot and have him zero in on Florence. Whoever lands the best shot stays on the 53 man roster.

Hey Dray – you reap what you sow…

Couldn't agree with you more...........

That cheap shot he put on Scahub last year was criminal. I cannot believe the league did not come down on him harder for that; a $15K fine and no game suspension is not much of a penalty for potentially ending the career of an up and coming QB. Kubiak has more class (and knowledge of the game) in his little toe than Glanville ever had, but I still think a hit should have been ordered. I wanted one last year, and frankly was a little surprised that none of the Texan players’ took it upon themselves to get some payback. Remember when Carr took that merciless beating in his first visit to SD? The Chargers must think we are not willing to get down and dirty. I don’t want the Jags, and the rest of the AFC South to evn come close to that mindset. Need to kick that punk’s ass pronto just to make a statement.

Not to condone...

Since it was on a turnover, and not just a hit in the backfield, I don’t think any of our players really saw what happened to Matt until they got home. That said, I’ll gladly donate a month’s salary (mine, not theirs) to any player who snuffs that fuck.

So, I'm bangin this chick, right...

Donation

I’ll volunteer a 2nd month of Beef’s salary.

While we're at

Let’s throw in Beef govt. stimulus check and annual bonus – you know, for the good of the team.

forgive

I’d have been able to if we’d have signed him, but since we didn’t/wouldn’t, fug him.
