The deal is on! (again)
Hey its MasterRWayne here from Stampedeblue! You may recall last year I posted on www.stampedeblue.com that if you guys swept us I would, "Eat my keyboard with tartar sauce." Well I am still just as confident this year even though Peyton will never play again *rolls eyes* Anyways I look forward to owning you guys for another year, but hey look on the bright side; at least Matt Shaub can be looking up at the ceiling of a different stadium (Lucas Oil Field) after Freeney sacks him!
Also, I hear that Ahman Green bought a new car! That's hardly surprising because he basically "earns" a new car per yard that he gains with the over inflated contract that you guys gave him.
Oh and even though you guys suck I do hope that you don't have any injuries this camp or during the pre-season.
Peace!

Freeney
I’m pretty sure Schaub will be able to avoid him. He’ll hear Freeney’s walker coming from a mile away.
Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...

Wish upon a star
Listen Tim I like you and your blog, but your recent posts regarding the Colts are kinda sad. I mean its pretty pathetic that your ONLY hope in passing us lies in the fact that the Colts just spontaneously combust with injuries. Maybe you should, and the Texans, should just focus on building a good team rather than wishing upon a star that Manning, Freeney and Harrison all just never play again. Sorry but that is not happening this year.
Speaking of which I saw Harrison at camp today and he looks great! Not that it matters in terms of beating you guys; I mean we still managed to beat you guys last year without him.

Wait
“Maybe you should, and the Texans, should just focus on building a good team rather than wishing upon a star that Manning, Freeney and Harrison all just never play again.”
Grammatical gaffes aside, this is still a ridiculous statement. For one, Freeney is coming off lisfranc surgery. For another, Harrison is older than dirt. Yeah, I’d love to see Manning get hurt, but that has more to do with my abject hatred of him than a feeling that he needs to die for us to win. After all, WITHOUT Andre Johnson, we were right there in the first game last year with the Colts. Think your team in invincible and super all you want, but the fact remains that it has flaws and, eventually, it is going to falter.
Yay, sports.

Ya ...what he said!
Go Matt!! You make some great points. But as an aside, Colts fans, with all their success, are way the hell better than fricken Dallas fans. Some of these guys actually have brains and think. I think we will give them all a rude awakening this year, and only then wil they give us the respect that is due. Dallas won’t cause they’re just plain stupid. I even root for the Colts…..when they’re playing Dallas. And MRW, I suspect Mr. Green will eat your lunch this year. You might want to try some Tabasco with that keyboard.

Oh Matt
Since you pointed out my, “grammatical gaffe” I thought it would be fair to point out that you stated, “Think your team IN invincible…” Try and put an IS in their next time buddy.

You nailed me.
You fail to see the difference between a typo and improper verb usage sandwiched between two comma splice errors? Seriously?

Freeney?
Does he still play? Is there some Masters NFL that I haven’t been informed about?
Yay, sports.

Still wishing
You guys are kind of pathetic. Freeney is fine and Harrison is one of the best WR’s to ever play this game. He is 36 years old and I will remind you that Jerry Rice stayed competive until he was 38-39. Harrison has only ever suffered through one major injury in his career and, as I stated previously, he looked great in camp today.
Also, as you can see from the picture Freeney was running without issue at camp today and Doctors report his progress as, “ahead of schedule.”
Bottom line is that the Colts are healthy and had an excellent draft. If you guys are going to beat us you have got to actually man up and beat us in a fair fight and I am sorry to inform you, but you are not winning this division anytime soon.
Finally, if we want to talk about injuries and players who might potentially have trouble coming back, I think we should start with Andre Johnson and Matt Shaub!
Worry about your own team Texans fans because I can assure you the Colts are even better this year than last year.

Re: Still Wishing
I appreciate your attempts to inflame the Houston fan base, but here are the facts:
1. The Colts should be a very good team in 2008.
2. The Colts should win the AFC South in 2008.
3. The Texans should be an improved team in 2008.
4. The Texans likely will not win the AFC South in 2008.
5. The Colts should be better than the Texans in 2008.
6. The Colts should sweep the season series against the Texans in 2008.
7. All of the preceding points mean nothing. That’s why they play the games.
And as much as I’d like to take credit for this excellent post on Peyton’s injury, I can’t; it was the work of Marroncito, one of the other very talented writers here at BRB. You can disagree with it all you want; that’s what we’re here for.
At the end of the day, the Colts should again be a Super Bowl contender this year. Hell, I’m on record as picking your squad to finish the regular season at 12-4. But by all means, keep it up; you’re more than welcome to continue your efforts at winning friends and influencing people with your repeated labels of the Texans and their fans as “pathetic.”
Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...

"7. All of the preceding points mean nothing. That’s why they play the games."
Exactly. All this talk about how the Colts are amazing and healthy and wonderful and perfect and able to save burning puppies is pretty ridiculous. If Colts fans are so convinced that they rule and we suck, they should probably go about trolling the Jags boards, since many people are picking the Jags to beat them in the division this year.
Oh, wait, that’s right…it would actually take some courage to predict a sweep against the Jags.
Yay, sports.

Ok
True we do play the games and believe me the Colts and Colts fans take after Tony D in that we NEVER look past an opponent. Maybe that would explain why the Colts are not a “hot headed” team.
What I was saying is how about a little respect thrown our way, huh? Posting articles about how the “ceiling is cracking” is just a sad attempt by you guys to stir up trouble. If you want the “ceiling to crack” you have got to come here and beat us. You have got to knock us off this hill and until you do we are the ones that rule the AFC South. Wishing that our players get career ending injuries is sad and pathetic. You don’t see Colts fans hoping that Andre Johnson fails to recover this year even though his injury is more severe than Manning’s and Harrison’s injuries COMBINED.
In fact, you guys are blessed in many ways to have us as the Kings of the division. Would you rather have Cowboy fans berating you or Phillip Rivers taunting you in your own stadium? How about the Patriots running up the score against you? The Colts have always played you guys tough and have always shown you respect as a professional sports team. But come to think of it that’s kind of a bad thing for you in the long run because the Colts, no matter how good we may get, will never look past you and that makes us all the more difficult to defeat.
by MasterRWayne on Jul 25, 2008 8:44 PM CDT 0 recs
Most of the folks around here...
...have never wished any injuries on the Colts. If you’ve been trolling the site enough, then you already know that. If anyone is wishing injuries on a Colt, it is the people of Baltimore.
And if you’ve been a Colts fan for more than 7 years, then you may do well to reflect on the suckitude that was the Colts franchise for so very long. It may help you to choose your words more wisely. I’m all for some good-hearted trash talk, but calling a franchise and its fans pathetic is a right reserved for the “sports writers” at our own local paper. Of course, that entire paragraph is predicated on the fact that you aren’t a bandwagon fan, or just simply too young to have lived through more than the successful version of the Colts.
P.S. Beware that which is proven to be cyclical…..especially when you’ve been on top for a while.

True
Just for clarity I was not calling the Texans organization or its fan, at large, “pathetic.” What I was saying is that it was pathetic to wish injuries on Colts players and see this as your big opening. Listen, I remember Dan Marino torching my team as a kid, but I never wished the guy would get hurt.
As I said before if you want your team to succeed then you just have to hope and demand for good drafts. The Texans seemed to be on the right track, but they appeared to have had a bad draft this year although the jury is still out.\
Anyways I am off to bed. Peace!

Understood....but
Again, show me where the BRB community has been wishing injury on Mrs. Chesney. Hell, I’ve hated the guy since he was at Tennessee, but I still respect his ability. And you would be hard pressed to find where I have wished him injury.
If anything, the title “Is the Ceiling starting to Crack?” is a compliment to the Colts by referring to them as the established ceiling. Sure, it may be a bit of a back-handed compliment, but a compliment nonetheless.
And for clarification, posting a story about an existing injury is not the same as wishing an injury upon someone. It isn’t anywhere close.

RE: Understood....but
Well said Shake. If I remember correctly the majority of the comments on that post basically stated that we would much rather take down the Colts with a healthy Manning.
You can talk all the trash you want to right now 'Master' but one day you will be looking up at us in the standings.

What goes around
Comes around. and, one day in the not too distant future, Houston will finish a season ahead of Indianapolis in the standings. Anyone remember the Patriots of the 70’s (yeah, I’m almost 50, so what?) ? They were terrible. Every year they had a draft pick in the top 5 of the first round. Now they’re the elite team in the NFL, spygate notwithstanding.
Championships come and go (I’m a Spurs fan too) and the truth of the matter is that Super Bowl wins are what counts and they last forever. As far as championships go right now, ask yourself this question- How many Super Bowls does Houston have to win to be as good as the Colts? One.

Disagree
Sure Super Bowl’s are huge, but there are other factors when deciding the greatness of a time. One such factor is conistent success; the Ravens won a Supoer Bowl in 2000, but haven’t done much since then. The Colts, on the other hand, have had one best offenses in league history for going on a decade now. We have also made the playoffs in 8 of the last 9 seasons. Therefore the Colts have a much more lasting legacy, at this point, than the Ravens.
Yes it is true that one day the Texans might challenge the Colts, but that is going to be harder than I think you realize. The Colts are a machine when it comes to finding talent and plugging it into our system. We have been running the same offense for over TEN years now and the same defense for the past SIX years. The team knows how to find talent to match what we want to do which is why we have a great offense and now a great defense. Even our coaching changes are calculated as Jim Caldwell is getting extensive head coaching training as he learns from Tony D to be his replacement next season.
So yes you guys may pass us, but you are not going to do it by giving out big contracts to over the hill veterans or by reaching desperately for left tackles in the first round. If you want to beat us you have got to play our game by sticking to the same offensive and defensive system year over year and drafting specifically for that system. In order to do that it is going to take at least four or five years for you guys to build up. Oh and I know that because it took Tony Dungy that long to build the Colts defense with guys that worked for the cover 2 model.
by MasterRWayne on Jul 26, 2008 10:25 AM CDT 0 recs
The Buffalo Bills disagree with your theory about Super Bowl wins.
And also, while I somewhat agree with the ability of the Colts to “plug-n-play” personnel into the scheme, you are leaving out one very obvious fact in the following statement:
“We have been running the same offense for over TEN years now…”
Ummm, that time-line conveniently lines up with the professional career of a certain Volunteer. And I’m not buying that you can simply plug in any other QB to that system. Manning is primary the reason you’ve run the same offense for 10 years. No more, no less.

The only Greatness of a time
that matters is that time at the end of the season (no, not the ridiculous Pro Bowl) when champions are crowned. Scoreboard (a full season) is all that people remember. The Giants won last year, but every fan that thinks they know enough about the game knows they won’t this year.
Your example of Baltimore further proves my point. Trent Dilfer led a close to inept offense (not a slam on Dilfer, I always liked the guy) to a SB win and the defense won the rings for them that year.
What most people will remember about last season might be how close that Pats came to perfection, but more likely they’ll remember that the Giants won.
All I’m saying is that all things are cyclical and someday the Baby Horses (no disrespect, I call your team that all the time) won’t be riding the crest of the wave forever. In fact, some previous comments have eluded to the fact that some pundits pick the fancy sports cars (see, I do that to ALL teams) to win the AFC South this season.
Sure, the Texans (I haven’t come up with a special nickname for my favorite team yet. If you do, be nice) are on the upstart, but I seriously don’t think we finish last in the division this year, dare I dream, we might even finish second.
Past histories are misleading. The Jags are the only team Houston has consistently played well against. What does that mean? Squat. Championships are all that people remember. Good luck to your team this season.
