You've Been Putzied
Why was Jeb Putizier cut? He was signed before the 2006 season to a 4-year $7.5 million deal with $1.5 million guaranteed money. In 2008 he is counting nearly $1 million against the cap, so why would they just cut the guy loose without at least letting him compete with Dressen as a second pass option at TE? If anyone has any information on the situation please comment.

Mike Bell
they had to cut someone to make room for Mike Bell on the 80 man roster.
Why they didn’t cut one of the safeties instead I don’t know. Perhaps he pissed in Alex Gibb’s Kool-Aid or something. who knows.

update
Accroding to Megan Manfull
“To make room on the roster for Bell, the Texans released safety Brandon Harrison”.
I didn’t see anything about Putzier mentioned. Where did you hear that?

why post about it now?
you’re just confusing idiots like me (not that that’s difficult). I was thinking he wasn’t on the team anymore.

Putz was cut because he wasn’t a good enough blocker a la Bruener and he wasn’t the downfield threat that Daniels is. kubiak brought him in because he thought he could be that threat, but he didn’t become that for the Texans.

but the guy
can take a hit. Not that it means much, but he used to get laid out every game.

I'm not sure
“Getting laid out every game’ constitutes being able to take a hit. If that was the criteria for being a good football player we’d still have zoolander behind center. He took more hits than Amy Winehouse’s bong.
Respectfully.

I applaud your comedy
The only point I was trying to make was that the guy certainly didn’t seem like an injury risk… but as you made clear, that’s not the most important factor for a player.

FBF
There is some substance to your statement, I mean hits have to be taken during every play, and Putzier may have been durable, but his lack of good hands made him expendable.

Joel Dreessen
That’s why Putzier was cut. Dreessen is better in every aspect of the game.
