America! (Expletive) Yeah!
So...how do I tie this seemingly non-football post to your Houston Texans? Through the Red-Headed Stranger, that's how. I'm sure that several of the Texans players and coaches will be on hand tomorrow when Willie brings his annual Picnic to H-Town. Call me crazy, but Jeff Zgonina seems like he'd be a huge Willie fan.

Veteran Depth
Tim, thanks for bringing this topic up. Yesterday I spent the 4th. with my in-laws. We attended a BBQ at a retirement community in Pearland. Before we sat down to eat, we gave thanks for the privilege of living in this great nation of ours, and for the sacrifices made by our servicemen overseas. At one point the speaker asked for all the military veterans to stand. At least 8 out of 10 of all men in attendance stood up proudly. That was a different time in our country’s history when that many served in the military. I was humbled and honored to be in their presence. Happy Independence Day everyone.

Praise all Vets
Too often we don’t give much thought to all that we have in this great country that we are priveleged to call home. If not for the sacrifices made by veterans in wars past and actives in the military today, America would not be the image of freedom that it is for the rest of the world. If you know any vets or actives, please take a short moment to thank them. If you do not, please say a short prayer for their safety. God Bless America.
Have a safe holiday weekend and celebrate the freedom that we have.

This is a few days late
Been on vacation and had limited computer access…
Thanks for the mention Tim, but like I’ve said before, its those kids in the sandbox – they’re the ones who deserve the gratitude.
But while I have the mic, I’m going to issue a challenge to everyone who reads this:
If you’re out and about and see an old-timer proudly wearing his Vietnam Veteran or Korean War cap, take time to thank him. And better still, if you have time, listen to him if he wants to tell you a story or two about his experiences. Taking time to share in their pride really means a lot.
