A Maniac's Perspective

Preseason game 1 against the Broncos was less than spectacular, however there were things to like and things to not like so much.

Here's my take, first of all I want to say, I know preseason games don't mean anything, but damn I'm glad the Texans didn't lose.

What I liked:
The Defense was solid in the first series
Mario's speed- #90 is a Freaking Monster
Duane Brown- This kid is the real deal
Demeco- Defensive anchor man
David Anderson- a lot of fire....a short yardage weapon
Jacoby Jones- nice catch
Kris Brown- steady as they come
Chris Taylor, Darius Walker, Steve Slayton- all 3 need work, but did fine I thought
Schaub and Rosenfels- nice to know that we have that depth at QB
Shane Boyd- can run and pass, fun to watch
Clock Management- I thought The coaches and Shane Boyd managed the clock superbly in order to get the win

What I didn't like:
The Defense- was sluggish after that 1st series, run defense was frustrating to watch at times
Jacoby Jones- don't be a hero, make the team, its preseason.
Running game- Holes were closing way too quickly
Ahman Green- he really should be cut this season, just an accident waiting to happen.

That's just my take at first glance of preseason game 1

As a Denver fan I didn't care much for the start or end of this game...

but I enjoyed most of the middle of the game. Schaub and Cutler both looked good-but your QB2 looks very strong-great back-up. As for us I hope Cutler stays healthy all season.

Anyway, I always enjoy playing you guys, I’m a big fan of Kubiak. He seems to be doing a good job. Have a great season and try to take out the Colts and Jags-we’ll do our best to take out San Diego-and maybe we’ll meet in the playoffs.

Thanks for chiming in

Let’s hope the Broncos can right the ship and get back to their winning ways.

We're trying.

I’m hoping we surprise a few teams this year.

Broncos broncos everywhere and all the league did blink,

Surprise

Luckily for you, the AFC West is not exactly a powerhouse. If you hold serve at home and steal one from KC or Oakland (or both) on the road, you’re sitting pretty fo’ sho’.

Yay, sports.

I'm with you on most of the positives

but I think you may be a bit hasty wanting to run Ahman Green out of town. If healthy, he is easily our best back. Furthermore, what else do we have? If both Green and Brown cannot contribute because of health issues, then “we really will see if Alex Gibbs is a genius” (someone at the Chron said that in Sunday’s issue). That comment is spot on, because after those 2 we have virtually ZERO experience at RB, save a few games by Darius late last season. I think the OL will perform up to Gibbs expectations eventually, but it would sure help to have either Green or Brown in top form physically for the first 5 games. After that, the schedule eases up and if the ZBS is doing its magic, then Darius-Slayton-Taylor may be enough to do the job. If we can find a way to have a slightly above average running game, then we are on our way to a winning season. If not, then Rosenfels will likely see plenty of action again this year.

Let’s run the rock. GO TEXANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
