Madden 09 Texans Thoughts

Madden 09 came out at 12:00am today. I got the Wii version. The first thing I did was start a Texans franchise. It was great to see Mario Williams face staring back at me as the top ranked Texans player. It was also nice to see that they had him as a 290lb DE rather than a 260lb Terrell Suggs clone.

In recent years, when running a Texans franchise, I always upgrade at least a few positions with Free Agents and make a few trades to get an underrated player or two. I didn't even look through the entire Texans roster before I started parousing the Free Agents list to see who was available to potentially upgrade the team. I saw about 10 guys that I'd want to sign so I flipped back to the Texans roster to see who had to go. And then I was pleasently suprised.

I found a ringing endorsement of what we already know as Texans fans. The Texans are a talented team. There aren't 10 positions anymore that are in desperate need of upgrades. The list of Free Agents that would be better than what the Texans have has dwindled. I'll still add a player or two. Guys like Zac Diles and David Anderson aren't getting much love from EA yet. Maybe they will after this year.

Any of y'all playing Madden this year with the Texans?

How is it on the Wii?

Is it horrible like the NCAA All-Play or are most of the features still there to make it enjoyable?

Wii is my first console since Intellivision – seriously – and NCAA is the total suck. Unless I see a good review for it on the Wii, and you can actually pass to the right receiver, no way.

Also, EA can bite my &*& ^& &#^*(@& 7(*@&(*# @ for not putting out a PC version.

haven’t gotten that far yet. played for 20 min so far. i’ll let you know as i go along. have you figured out how to sort by each stat column? i can’t find any button on the Wiimote that lets me sort players by their stats.

Disappointed so far

On offense, Schaub has a rag arm and the running game is terrible.

On defense, they are a lot better, especially the pass rush.

I'm always behind

I just picked up 08 for the PS2… It was like $15.

I’m holding out for a PS3… still haven’t been able to justify though.

I know, I know...

But my luck will have me breaking the seal on the box only to find out that a friend of a friend found a pallet load of them that “fell” off a truck. Not that I condone the losing and subsequent finding of cargo ladened pallets or anything… I’m just saying.

After my disapointment in the wii I ended up trading it in for a used PS3 and I’m happy with it.

I got a 60gb used for $450 and got $300 for the trade in of my Wii and Games (system alone was $200 call me suprised). Check ebgames.com and you can get a 20gb for $350 but you have to order through the site as the stores don’t seem to carry them. Just make sure the model you get is backwards compatible (if you want to play ps2 games that is).
