Jacques Reeves
Has looked like he really wants Antwaun Molden to take his job. I want to see a bunch of the rookie in the second half.
Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...
Antwaun needs to reach out and grab it.

Schaub has been feeling heat all game long...

I got to watch schaub screw up 3rd down and the pokes drive for the FG before the half. is that the game in a nutshell?
Oh, and Frenchy had to be pulled because he was spontaneously combusting.
Reeves missed that tackle
his fault

Third time tonight...
that they have been a half-second early and it hasn’t been flagged once.
Also, that fat prick with the crooked hat that was celebrating after Jacoby’s second drop? I hope he dies.
Yay, sports.
They caint
flag the girls

I Started Construction On My Richard Smith Effigy
I just need some gas, tar, feathers, and pitchforks. The angry mob will be easy
Agreed
The defense is talent laden… we need someone to make it all work all.

I'm not sure I agree
We have Mario, Bennett, and DeMeco.
We got nothing opposite Mario at end last year, Travis Johnson is average at best, and Maddox is ass.
Greenwood might be our worst non-DB starter heading into 2008. Diles has some talent, but is he even average comparatively? I’d say that’s a stretch.
Safeties are below average, and until somebody steps up at CB2, we are ass there, too.
We’ve got three of the best at their positions, but none of the other 8 may be even average. That’s a huge problem. There’s talent, at least, but we need Cochran and Okam and Diles and maybe Adibi and Molden and Harrison to step in and step up.
by bigfatdrunk on Aug 22, 2008 10:28 PM CDT up reply actions
btw
When I say average, I mean only starters around the league, not general depth.
by bigfatdrunk on Aug 22, 2008 10:30 PM CDT up reply actions
Greenwood
is definitely troubling me. No idea why he went from whatever level he was at last year to pure ass this year. Diles has shown some ability of late, so I’m willing to give him a pass.
I wouldn’t put Will Demps at below average, though with his hands he’s next in our long line of free safeties who should be strong safeties.
Reeves, Faggins, and Fletcher are horrid.
Yay, sports.
Faggins made A play
Just thought I’d throw that out there

Interesting points
Mario, DeMeco, and Amobi are among the best… What I don’t like is the lack of aggression from the front seven in pass protection. It’s not because they aren’t good enough to apply pressure, its because they aren’t being instructed to.
Got Texans? Visit BattleRedBlog.com for the latest on your Houston Texans!
oops, and Amobi
sorry, starting to wear out without alcohol in my system
by bigfatdrunk on Aug 22, 2008 10:34 PM CDT up reply actions
still the preseason, though
In 2006, he was far more aggressive than in 2007. I think he can switch back, but we aren’t showing our cards yet.

Now kids...
That’s what I call wishful thinking
Got Texans? Visit BattleRedBlog.com for the latest on your Houston Texans!
Aggressive, sure.
But the FO numbers suggest that we weren’t really any better in 2006 than 2007. More sacks, sure, but not as effective overall, so it was a wash.
Yay, sports.
didn't say better
Just aggressive. Which, I hope, means that Smith will blitz more than what seemed like never last year.
by bigfatdrunk on Aug 22, 2008 10:29 PM CDT up reply actions
True.
But remember that his blitzes in 2006 were a lot of 4-man rushes with Travis or Mario dropping into coverage, like some kind of aborted zone blitz. That hampered Mario for sure and took him out of his highest best use.
Just friggin’ send 5 or 6, Richard. Mix in the zone blitz, but establish a real blitz first.
Yay, sports.
agreed
he was flying to the ball. colvin was simply awful. it didn’t even look like he was trying.
by bigfatdrunk on Aug 22, 2008 10:20 PM CDT up reply actions
It sure as hell aint Colvin
Got Texans? Visit BattleRedBlog.com for the latest on your Houston Texans!
colvin
I really, truly thought Colvin was our key this year. But he looked more like a boxer out there, just kinda throwing punches and not actually moving for the ball.

I'm done
I’m switching to the steady staple (bud light) and I’m gonna figure out what is really keeping this team at bay…
