Will The Texans Be Fired Up?
With all the havock that Hurricane Ike wrecked on our fair city, a lot of people are a little frazzled. The Texans stayed home with their families through the storm. Now, the Texans are taking the field against their division rivals, the Tennessee Titans, with the home opener weeks away.
Football is an emotional game, and momentum can mean everything. When they take the field against the Titans next Sunday, how are they going to come out? It should be an emotion-filled game against a hated division rival. Will Houston come out on fire after all this mess or will they be deflated after watching their friends and family struggle with things like electricity and water?
I'm really hoping that the Texans come out fired up. What kind of emotion do you think they will take the field with?

If they're not fired up...
…then they suck. I’m sorry.
I don’t think that will be a problem. They’ll be ready to go. I just don’t want us going into that game at 0-3.
Also – let me ask this totally trivial and unimportant question – Deep Steel Blue (as scheduled) or Liberty White?

I think we should change it to Battle Red ! We only bust those out for special games, and I think this will certainly qualify.

yup
Home opener doesn’t come til Week 5 (Oct 5) against Indy. That’s a loong time to go without playing in Reliant.
It goes without saying that these next 3 games vs division opponents are huge; especially considering that Indy is 1-1 and Jax is 0-2, and they play each other next week. A win next week keeps us alive, divisionally, and ups our confidence going into our game in Jacksonville to play a hurting, struggling Jaguars team.

huge
I agree.
One game at a time, and each “one game” is HUGE.
We can take Tenn. Our weakness matches theirs. Our strength against theirs. Its gonna be who wants it more, and they’re 2-0 and we’re a pissed off 0-1.
Healthy and Turnover free 2008-09, and we win 11!

They say they will be fired up.
I know that they are sick of losing to the Titans. The question is whether they will be able to knock the rust off. And not let the distractions of living in other people’s homes or hotels or dealing with home repairs etc get to them. Or whether they are going to go into this game like the dude who got his car smashed in Fast Times at Ridgemont High after being tricked that it was the rival school did it.
Here’s my thoughts on this, with some sad pictures from the area:
