My Take On Stanley McClover

NOTE: The FanPost below is courtesy of Jaxon, who handles all things Carolina Panther for SB Nation. Needless to say, his take on McClover is definitely worth a read. Thanks to Jaxon for taking the time to post here at BRB.

I was shocked the Panthers cut him as I didn't even realize he was on the bubble. The only thing I can think of is he a little slower than a 7th round draft pick we kept, Hilee Taylor, who is a pass rush specialist.

McClover is a former 7th round pick out of Auburn who was projected to go much higher but had some problems in school (or family maybe); I can't remember the details. He has great size and played in several games for the Panthers last season. He's a very vocal player as well who likes to jack up his teammates with this barking thing he does. He played really well in the Panthers' final preseason game, on one play running down the RB from the other side of the line.

McClover has lots of potential, but I wouldn't call him the next Super Mario just yet. He seems to have all the tools but just didn't make that many "wow" plays throughout preseason. He's played more on the right side than the left, backing up Mike Rucker last season, though I think he could play either side. I can't really say whether he's better against the run or pass, but I do remember him having trouble getting off his blocks when the play was right at him.

I liked McClover, I nicknamed him "McLovin", and I'm sorry to see him go. So it is in the NFL.
