Open Game Day Thread: Houston v. Cincinnati
Houston Texans at Cincinnati Bengals, Oct 18, 2009 12:00 PM CDT
3-3 would be a helluva lot more encouraging than 2-4, wouldn't it? Make it happen, Texans.
Leave your pre-game, in-game, and post-game joy and derision in the Comments below. We'll have the requisite second, third, and fourth quarter threads as well, so please move the party there at the appropriate time. GO TEXANS!

For those of you with my number, I’ll be on the road all day. I wouldn’t mind the occasional text update.
Thanks!
Note to self: Insert something witty here.
my weekend....
consisted of watching as many taped texan games as i could. i wanted to mentally prepare myself for today… and i wanted to see “which” team i could expect to show up. so i pulled out like 5 VHS tapes with 5 or 6 games on each tape, going back to year 1 of Koob’s reign. couple of things.
*Talent wise, we’ve never had better. after watching Faggins and Demps and Greenwood and the like, im happy we have who we have.
*when the Texans play desperate, they play well.
*AJ has been the man since day 1. funny thing? he essentially runs the same routes and they still can’t stop him.
*Mittens!!! that is all.
*the fact that we didn’t seriously address our secondary is troubling. every year it’s the same shit… we always get torched for TDS. whether it Demps… or Harrison.. or Barber… or Sanders… Faggins… Freddy. whoever scouts DBS AND DTS for the Texans should be fired!
*our offense has so many big plays in it. BUT it hinges not so much on the recievers and backs, but MORE on #8’s accuracy and precision. this season is the first time we’ve incorporated screens and things like that… which is encouraging.
*Texans play down to opponents.
*they ALWAYS play well in bounce back games.
no worries BRB… Texans win big in Cincy. our history says Dre will get a long TD, our defense forces 2+ turnovers, and we get back to 500. fairly coherent post, considering im hanging out with OG Kush. btw…. my pink unicorn says hi and Go Texans.

Bengals play too many close games...
I think the Texans actually win outright today. And that statement doesn’t even make me nervous. Slaton should have a MONSTER game if we run right at Odom (who is selling out for sacks on every play).
Well, back in the UnderDOG seat...
Maybe we operate better from here. The tiggers are prime for an upset. It would be so fine to see the boys get after ’em and play an entire game the way they played that lonely eight minutes of inspired ball against Arizona last week. Once we put it all together, we could take on anybody.
Please, let today be the day.
Go TEXANS!
I honestly think we're going to win this game
And you guys know I’m as cynical as they come.

Wow
I don’t even know how to react to you having a positive outlook about a game. Makes me think I need to reexamine my prediction.
Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...
It's just a feeling, unfortunately.
I wish I had stats and hard evidence to back it, but I don’t. Not at all.

Couldn't be playing better
And we’re barely holding onto third. Wigan’s doing us some favors by drawing Citeh though.

Definitely
Good to see us putting them on their heels
I think Slaton
Just ran for more than 2 yards…
Looks like the Bengals DT fainted...
He couldn’t believe that Steve ran for more than two yards either.

Sad that we’re excited about a 3-4 yard run by Steve.

Nothing ever goes our way.
I’m not angry or surprised, just sort of bemused.
It helps
When you block their star defensive end even a little. If you are standing their on the line and no one is in front of you, you have failed.
Justin TV?
I seem to recall that they usually have one…

rather than the tried and true with Brown, he’s 100% so far this year on 4th down conversions… Sure he’s 100% ineffective, but 100% is 100%

Got Texans? Visit BattleRedBlog.com for the latest on your Houston Texans!
You can tell Kubes is shitting bricks
Not because he went for it – but because he went for it really early, AND even when the offense looks good. That move would have made a lot more sense if our offense had looked shitty so far.
I like it. Desperate times/desperate measures.
