Picking up from his post that there’s too much negative…
The problem, to me, is that JaMarcus Russell is just SO bad. We are game-planning around his suck. We are sticking 9 in the box. We can’t do this against normal teams.

However
we lost to this team last year, quarterbacked by JaMarcus Russell. I can’t complain about today’s performance so far.

I think you're making the Raiders out to be worse than they really are
They beat KC by 3, lost to the chargers by 4 late in the game, their worst showing before today was a 20-3 loss to the Broncos. The Texans have played the Raiders as well or better than anyone else has this season, so unless the Chargers, Chiefs, and Broncos are all terrible teams, it’s certainly nothing to complain about being up 29-6 over Oakland.

But for the same reason I didn’t get too down on the offense after the Jets game, I’m not going to get too high on the defense during this game.
And, really, we’ve seen a very good Raiders D. We blew up Johnson several times early, but our O has only dropped 20 on them. If they had a QB, they would be very dangerous.

I can understand not getting giddy over the results so far
But to complain about how terrible the team is and how we’re lucky that we’re playing the Raiders, while we’re beating the team 29-6 just doesn’t make sense to me. I’m not saying you should be dancing over the score, but neither should we be crying in our beers because the Texans are only winning by 23 points in the 4th quarter.

the color commentator was all over that play, but I’m not at sure that wasn’t Cushing’s forearm to the Russell’s shoulder pad rather than “earhole”.

Of course they won’t play like this next week. It’s easy to stop the Raiders because you can stack the box to stop the run because JaMarcus Russell is the worst QB in the NFL.

We're ahead by 23 with 4 minutes to play
This is when all coaches play conservative and run out the clock. We played conservative a large part of the second half, but why not? We have a 20 point lead and they haven’t moved the ball against us all game but have been playing pretty good defense. Playing it safe was the smart thing to do.
We're not worried about keeping anyone honest

Why?
If we go 3 and out we put the ball into their territory and they have almost 0 chance of getting any points. Their only chance was for us to play aggressive and allow them to make plays on defense to get back into the game.
we have not been up by 20 for the whole second half
and we have been ultra conservative the whole half.
4 mins left, I agree, but if they had an offense, we could be in a world of hurt based on our 3rd quarter play calls.

i don't care what anyone says...
first game i got to watch since week one, and for me it couldn’t have been better!!!! defense played their ass off and looked pretty decent all game…cushing is a friggin beast, and i may be sorry for feeling like they shouldn’t have drafted him…my only complaint, is the lack of a solid run game…good flashes for scores that was nice to see, overall, i’m glad i got to see this one even if it was against the raiders who seem to be worse than the texans right now…

but in the run game I think Moats did great. He had to avg 4.5+ yards/carry. Cush played great and I am very impressed with Pollard in his first game with the Texans. He lays hits like a LB and was very good at stopping the run. Maybe we have finally found an answer at SS.

People not giving the Texans defense enough credit today
yes, the Raiders are horrible on defense, but check out these rushing statistics. Remember that we were probably the worse team in the NFL at rushing defense before this game.
Raiders rushing stats in 4 games:
vs Chargers: 32 car, 148 yds, 4.6 avg, 1 TD
vs Chiefs: 25 car, 67, yds, 2.7 avg, 1 TD
vs Broncos: 23 car, 95 yds, 4.1 avg, 0 TD
vs Texans: 22 car, 45 yds, 2.0 avg, 0 TD
I would call this major progress. I think it’s safe to say Cushing was the right choice. I know some here weren’t a big fan of him initially.
