Character Match
If you polled informed fans of the NFL and asked who the best Wide Receiver is, there will likely be a split decision right down the middle between the Texans' Andre Johnson and the Cardinals' Larry Fitzgerald. I can't argue that point. If you added the qualification of who is the highest character Wide Receiver in the NFL into the poll, you would probably get the same results. What a breath of fresh air that is. In the sea of "look-at-me" personalities at that position, Andre and Larry are leading the way in stats and character! As a football fan, I have a feeling that this Sunday's game is building up to a gigantic showdown of two athletes who say little, but speak volumes with their on-field performances and all-around character.
Two weekends ago, the Cardinals were having a tough game against the undefeated Colts team and afterward, Larry's brother Marcus put out a Tweet in which he called QB Kurt Warner an "old ass man." Larry, and to Kurt's credit also, handled it with class and the incident was quickly reduced to a non-event. Stirring the pot is just not what Larry Fitzgerald is about. Leaping and making unbelievable TD catches and then handing the ball to the referee IS what he is about.
This past week, Andre Johnson only had two receptions in the Texans' 29-6 domination of the Raiders. Afterward a story appeared in which Coach Kubiak apologized to Andre after the game for only targeting him for those couple of passes and concentrating on trying to get film on the run game. I tried to find the quote, but was unable. But, I'm sure you all saw Andre's response. It went something like this, "I don't care about that coach. I'm just happy for the team getting the win!" Whew! Does this stuff give you chills? Either that, or we are in Kansas, Toto...
Long story short...this Sunday, in the late game, I am prepared to sit down in front of an HD wide screen somewhere to watch these two professional athletes put on a show. I expect both of these players to be playing at top speed and giving us a performance to remember! Whatever happens, they will both be at the top of the list!

it is just so nice to see such classy guys in the game. What a contrast to the TO’s of the world!

it sounds like it would be a good game except larry got something we don’t have, a freaking secondary. now don’t get me wrong i want us to win as much as the next guy but if our secondary does not step up its going to be long game i think dunta should stay on larry all game which now leaves us with a shorter rookie on bouldin. Man i hope we pull this out and get more then a damn min and a half of highlights on nfl network im sick of these guys really.

I agree our secondary is troublesome
this weekend more so than most.
But the key is the pressure. We haven’t blitzed as much lately, and the result has been more exposure of our weak secondary. When we did blitz in the first two games, it was nearly always picked up.
So I suspect we will resume mass blitzing, and if we are able to break through and get pressure, our secondary has a chance.
Smushiak will take us to the playoffs in 2009.

lucky.
we were extremely lucky to get a guy like AJ, who more or less set the tone for the entire team. which is why we don’t have that many “incidents” in the locker room. he’s a great leader, and an even better person.

Well 99% of the time I agree....
But it WAS nice to see the facade crack when he decided to beat-down Finnegan like his b*tch.

Forgiven
Finnegan had it coming to him!
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?
