My thoughts on the Bills/Texans game
What I was most impressed with was the three ealry turovers that we overcame and just absolutely controlled the 2nd half of the game. The running game was impressive, albeit against the 32nd ranked run defense. In saying that, we dominated the trenches.
Schaub needs to fix those early mistakes because we won't recover against the Pats, Colts, or Dolphins so easily.
I'm still concerned about Dunte Robinson's play. On the endaround to TO, Dunte did a good job of shedding the blocker, but took too of an aggressive angle on TO and allowed him to get to the outside where no help was found. This would have been an 8-10 yard gain had Dunte forced TO to go inside where all of the help was. Dunte's play has been subpar this season and I am certainly happy to know that this douchebag will not be getting a big time extension from us. I think Quinn will be more than capable of stepping in next season as our starter. If not Quinn, then we can sign a deece free agent who can definitely fill D-Rob's shoes. D-Rob's open field tackling will be sorely missed, but we need guys who can consistently cover WRs and not get burnt.
As far as Slaton goes, I really do feel for the guy. His fumbleitis is now a disease entrenched deeply into his body. Today's play looked like he was holding onto the ball too tightly and it just popped out like a giant zit when a defenders fingers got near it. He is too good of a football player to be playing cheerleader on the sidelines, but I understand what Kubiak is doing. Although, Kubes better be careful with Slaton's psyche because this could lead to more troubles for the young man.
Overall, I thought the defense was spectacular. they never let the Bills offense get into any kind of rythm and I have to credit that to the run defense once again. However, the Bills offensive playcalling looked terrible. There was harldy any motion or bunch formations to get our LBs moving around. The Texans D looked so comfortable pre-snap when lining up against the Bills O. It was almost as if we knew what the call was. Unreal how simple it looked.
Special Teams has cost Jacoby some masterful returns. Very uncharacterristic of this team. This needs to be dealt with, because feild position will be huge deal when we play tougher games against the likes of Indy and NE. Speaking of Jacoby, it looks as though he is settling in nicely with his role on the offense. The endaround was a very well drawn up play and Jacoby did his thing. He also caught a nice ball on the sidelines for a solid gain. He is important to this offense now that OD is out. Casey and Dreesen are capable, but I think Jacoby can make things happen in four WR sets. That is probably going to be a more frequent formation with OD gone for the year.
Overall, I give the team an A on defense and a B on offense. Turnovers keep them from getting an A.
Bring on the Colts.

Good Post.
Wish the plays weren’t called back for penalties every time Jacoby breaks one. And was glad to see him on kickoff team as well, Andre Davis hasn’t looked great so far this season. I feel bad for Slaton too, but I think Moats should start next week. Give Slaton 5 to 10 carries and try to re-build his confidence heading into the bye week.

The Bills offense is a poor measuring stick. I expected our defense to rock them. Next week will be the first really good team we will play.
The Bengals are playing well, but Carson Palmer is NOT Manning.
Next week we find out who we are.

Nice!
Next week, I’m hoping that Addai has his first shocker…seems he always has a career day against the Texans. You know the Colts are going to try to assert the run, because Manning practically wrote the book on play action.
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?

I hope
they try to assert the run.
Pollard will have his day.
Smushiak will take us to the playoffs in 2009.

Seriously if they try to force the run instead of exploiting our secondary we’ll be laughing our way to a win. That isn’t going to happen though, so our secondary is going to have to have a big game.
