Houston Texans themed baby room
I recently found out that our second child is going to be a boy. Our first was a girl. Now that we have a boy coming, Ive decided to make a Texans themed baby bedroom. My first order of business is painting the walls. I cant decide between going Steel Blue or Battle Red. On one hand I think the Battle Red could be a little flashy and bright for a boys room, but on the other hand, the Steel Blue might make it hard to find contrasting colors to go with it(for example the official Houston Texans window curtains only come in blue). Most of the Texans bedroom gear will come in Blue and White colors, so I was leaning towards red walls, but I really like the darker tone of the Steel Blue. Opinions?

My little bro has his room painted that way.
Except in the Burnt Orange and White, but his looks good. Or maybe Blue walls with a stripe of battle red ?

Do what I did for my theater room...
I went Stee blue walls, seperated by a white stripe around the center of the room that spreads into the background for the Texans logo on opposite walls.

did you have a problem with all your Texans gear contrasting with the blue walls?

Nope. In fact my wife had a great idea....it happens.
To “frame” spaces for gear, simply paint an appropriate sized WHITE Square/rectangle on the wall with w RED boreder around it and then display the gear. It looks pretty neat.

Decorating Advice on BRB
Don’t let anyone ever tell you that this blog isn’t fluid.
I’d go with red. And then I’d write "Check out Battle Red Blog (www.battleredblog.com) for all your Texans news and views!" in white on each wall. For the kid, you know.

I'd go with blue dude.
Like what you said, it’ll be easier to furnish the room because most texans gear come in blue.

Not to mention painting the room all red will likely resutly in an angry kid. A red room would drive me insane.

Steel Blue
Blue (especially a shade this this one) is much more pleasing to the eye than Red. As the others have suggested, just find another creative way to blend in some Battle Red to the room. But for fucksake, do not put your infant in a solid bright red room.
RED RUM.

For some reason...
my first thought re: an all red room was The Shining.
Which is odd, considering I don’t think there actually was an all red room in that, was there? And, if not, what does it say about us that we leaned that way regardless?
I need a beer.
Yay, sports.

blue
agree w/earlier post…it has been proven that red will cause the little tyke stress. if I had it to do all over again as a baby, I would want a big soft blue breast suspended on my ceiling. who wouldn’t be wholly functional with such supporting surroundings?

Poor kid...
Don’t make him suffer the same fate that we’ve dealt with. Make the room Patriots-themed or something, for his sanity (and liver). At the very least, make sure there are no Rosencopter reminders.

I Don't Get It
You guys all seem to be basing your color choice on the child’s welfare. That’s ridiculous.

Question
Why can’t/don’t you go with Liberty White as your base color, and then accent the shit out of the room with both red and blue?
Yay, sports.

I really hate white walls for one, and like Shake said, I dont want Jesse Jackson to hold another press conference.
