Some people say "If you can't beat them, join them". I say "If you can't beat them, beat them", because they will be expecting you to join them, so you will have the element of surprise.

Hey there smart guy

Don’t forget that a) we split the season series with you guys and b) you’re still behind us in the standings.

Also – funny how you only showed your face in here after you win. You sure didn’t come in here after you guys lost. Awesome.

And – I was only joking when I called you smart.

Hey there smart guy( its the biggest game of our franchise's history lol!!!)

Yeah, well be behind you for just one more week. Don’t forget u barley eeeked one out even with some bad officiating and a bumbling collins who fumbled without being touched. Not this time. We embarrassed texans (highly improved hmmmm)run defense twice going over 200 yds in both games! You sure? I could’ve sworn that was my face argueing with u and your babycows after week 2. You might just have a convenient memory skippy. Its little punks like you who run your mouths on MCM then cant take it when its dished back at you! Thats all. What did you think u were gonna escape without getting your comeuppance?! Just think of us when your team is cleaning out their lockers early. prediction: texans don’t win another game all year.5-11 sounds good to me ;) “46”

Titans 20-17

by oilzwell on Nov 24, 2009 9:44 PM CST up reply actions

Convenient memory?

Show me where I’ve run my mouth on MCM. Show me one post where I talked any kind of trash over there.

We barely eked out a victory? What do you call it when you guys only win because of a missed field goal? Domination? Don’t make me laugh. If you actually look at the numbers (which may be hard for an illiterate buffoon like yourself) you will see that this was a very close game. I know August and crew over at MCM are going on about how VY owned us and all that, but it’s not true – and when they calmed down a little they acknowledged that this was a very hard-fought game.

Maybe if you weren’t such a homer you might think the same way yourself.

Oh wait, I just used the word “think” when talking about you. My bad.

When I'm on the mic, I'm like global warming, you can't ignore me.

by tehGrindCrusher on Nov 25, 2009 2:08 AM CST up reply actions

Convenient memory!

Ahh ding-a-ling, You were in fact running your mouth along with your girlfriend slatonshuffle and a few other texan trolls. How soon they forget. I really don’t need to show/prove to you anything, that was 2 friggin months ago like I’m really gonna start digging through thousands of back posts to prove you were talking out of you *! Forget the VY yds, chris johnson alone had 150 yds rushing on your “much vaunted” “Much improved” run defense. Our Defense had 4 sacks and harrassed Schaub all night, how many did the texans D have? ZERO. We shut down your run game. How many 3 and outs did we force with texans starting on our side of the field even? Hmmm? Reality check: making that field goal wouldn’t have won the game for you genius. Bironas also missed a very makeable FG. I guess losing a “Close” game is your pathetic version of a moral victory. So be it, all anyone else will see is an L. Heres the bottom line to all this. You guys got waay too excited and thought you were gonna have your way on MNF at home infront of the choketown faithful. Thought your were gonna springboard to the playoffs at our expense and you had a painful wakeup call. Lets not talk about domination and close games you won those last two games vs. Titans by a combined 4 points math genius. “46”

by oilzwell on Nov 25, 2009 8:30 AM CST up reply actions

Still waiting

Just show me one post where a reasonable person could say that I talked trash over at MCM prior to the first Tits-Texans game. Or at any other time. Just one.

You claimed that when we won we barely eked out a victory but when you beat us you “embarrassed” us. Yet the stats clearly show that it was a very close win: total yards – TEN 344, HOU 340. If you guys had ended up on the other side of the score, would have considered that an embarrassment? Probably not.

Yes, you held our rushing game. But so far only the Bills haven’t done that. So it’s not like your D did anything special.

As for the rest – best if you brush up on your reading comprehension. I never said we would have won if only Brown had made that field goal. I said Brown missing the field goal is what won the game for you. And it did.

And I never once claimed a moral victory. Remember when you offered to hold a bag for me when I said I was going to vomit (forgot to mention – that was mighty considerate of you)? Do you think I would feel that way if I thought the game had been some kind of moral victory for the Texans?

You are a special kind of stupid.

When I'm on the mic, I'm like global warming, you can't ignore me.

Special kind of stupid.

You should know that already. He’s a BE-SF fan!

by Jordann on Nov 25, 2009 1:53 PM CST up reply actions

Whatever guy

When I said “Embarrassed” it doesn’t necessarily have to mean a 30 -3 beating. I mean If the titans defense had given 230 rush yds to the texans I’d call that embarrassing. but you guys(fans, media, etc) all had the Texans winning this game and everyone had us written off. Thats all I heard all week long. Now you’re beaten you don’t like it. Another thing I’m so sick and tired of this whole friggin thing about how Houston fans and the Texans are the nice guy victims and Titans are the bad guys that left town. Not to mention this garbage about Titans shouldn’t be able to wear Oiler throwbacks and Our history isn’t really ours because we aren’t in houston anymore! That just shows how stupid those fans really are.Only a bitter sourgrape would adapt that position. If my memory serves me werent you guys the ones who turned your backs and ran the oilers out of town??! YES, In fact you are the ones who need to brush up on reading comprehension and NFL history for that matter. I understand you never actually said moral victory but you keep on yapping about close game this and close game that. Like that somehow changes the fact that we have dominated this series from the beginning. As far as the talking trash thing goes you were one of many talking trash back during the pre-season Hall of fame game vs. Buffalo about the Oiler throwback uni’s what else. That BRB article was posted on MCM which is what brought me here in the first place as I took issue with many of those ridiculous comments. “46”

WOOO for overreactions at the WRONG THINGS!!!!

The defense was fine tonight, we gave up a lot of yards but held to tits to 20 pts and only 2 fgs in the 2nd half.

THE PROBLEM TONIGHT WAS THE OFFENSE. Especially the second half offense. 3 FUCKING POINTS IN THE 2ND HALF!!! We didnt deserve to win tonight. Andre dropped 4 balls, Schaub was inconsistent, we had no running game again, and the O-line was basically non existent.

Dont blame the defense when they played better than our 3rd ranked offense.

by TexasHoosier on Nov 23, 2009 11:07 PM CST up reply actions

rose colored glasses

You guys must’ve seen a different texans defense than I did. You had no sacks, no ints, 1 gift-wrapped fumble by (once again) a QB who was “untouched” while running. I mean if VY doesnt drop the ball he runs for another 50 yds and a TD easy. The defense you are so proud of Gave up over 344 yds of offense and allowed us to convert 1/2 our 3rd downs. Explain to me again how your defense was fine. “46”

maybe i'm ignorant,

but i thought our defense for the most part did a very solid job. CJ had like 2 decent runs. everything else was 1-3 yard carries. only thing Bush failed at was keeping Young contained. I’m mutinous at Kris Brown right now. all the wins he has given the Texans over the years. Time in time out he is one of the most solid kickers in the league and now he drops 2 in a row against divisional powerhouses. i’m in shock and apparently i enjoy pain because i still somehow root for this team.

Looking forward to not having an 8-8 year!

by BattleRedHusker on Nov 23, 2009 11:07 PM CST reply actions

I totally agree about the defense

The offense was the problem tonight as we did shit in the 2nd half

by TexasHoosier on Nov 23, 2009 11:08 PM CST up reply actions

I'd blame Kris Brown...

…and the coaches.

Why was Chris Brown out there? Why did we play not to lose at the end (as opposed to playing to win)? Why was the playcalling weak all night? Why didn’t we have a spy on Vince? Why were we so insistent on using Chris Brown?

by TexansDC on Nov 23, 2009 11:11 PM CST up reply actions

the playcalling was pretty bad

but its hard to say Chris Brown was worse than SS tonight in the running game. Slaton had a good receiving game, but he didnt do anything while running the ball, and Brown did alright.

Kris Brown missed 2 FGs yes, but he had to attempt 3 and thats the offenses fault. AJ had 4 drops, Schaub could have thrown 4 picks and the line was barely visible

Shaub had better numbers tonight, this season and in his career than Vince. Maybe when VY catches up his TDs to his interceptions then you can talk.

VY did not win the game

but even as a Texans fan i think youre selling him short tonight. He had some key 3rd down conversions running the ball and didnt throw a pick. I was pretty impressed with him but it looked like a college offense, and everyone knows you cant consistently win in the NFL with a college offense

by TexasHoosier on Nov 23, 2009 11:23 PM CST up reply actions

Oh thats a bit blind

He threw some brilliant throws and looked comfortable in the pocket and going through the reads. And we nothing work he used his legs, rather than resorting to them when he got nervous.

Also this offense is far from any college offense, a toss sweep and some option running is not all of a sudden the spread offense.

Wow, I complemented VY and you still say im "blind."

Not all college offenses are spread offenses but its nice you think that. Option running and zone reads are parts of a college offense. VY will not be able to scramble every game and Chris Johnson wont run 29 times per game. VY got the bulk of his yards on QB scrambles and safe throws against zone coverages. While the zone schemes were partially due to the VY’s running ability, its also a due to the fact that teams dont have alot of tape on the new VY. Its like Sanchez at the beginning of the year or the Jets defense, or Flacco and Ryan last year, teams dont have alot of tape on VY now and struggle to defend him. Give it a good season and maybe, just maybe, I might possibly consider VY a viable NFL QB for the future.

VY played a great game, just freaking admit it. His play DID help in a very significant way

because he’s a QB damn it. QB job description = call the plays in the huddle, hand it off to whoever, throw the ball, and scramble when necessary. for young and vick and early-mcnabb it was scramble first. that is NOT good quarterbacking. obv as a college fan you see it otherwise, but this is the pros and thats how its done

Good effort, but no

Definitions of quarterback:

Vince had 12 completions and 11 incompletions. He simply is a game manager. Chris Johnson deserves the credit. So does Bironas. Vince just didn’t blow it like Kris Brown.

To say “Vince Young just wins games” is insulting to Chris Johnson. 29 rushes/151 yards, lots of key blocks, his speed in that option really keeps defenses from keying in on Vince (imagine if it were LenDale back there).

I love Vince for that national title, but it’s obvious that Chris Johnson is the special football player.

When you say

You discredit the defensive line which put pressure all over Schaub, you discredit Chris Johnson who was responsible for a little less than 50% of the offensive plays and yards (29-152), you discredit a man who drilled 2 50+ yard FGs as if they were nothing. Vince had some 1st downs, he only had 1 bad play (the fumble), and played within himself….he’s a game-manager. Capable of the dynamic play, but a game manager nonetheless.

ESPN gag on every cock that wins. brett favre before the season started was a worthless old man, and now he’s the greatest qb ever. espn is amazing for the sports news and stuff, but if only there was an option to make the anchors stfu

lol @ the Favre comment.

to be fair, prior to the beginning of the season, even up to i’d say about 3 seasons ago, he was the “greatest qb ever”. Love him or hate him, the guy plays football and he’s damn good at it.

but really i’m agreeing with you about espn pumping off all the “High Profile” players just to get a load of their gravy. sports broadcasting is getting one sided too. anyone see the AFC Playbook on NFL Network? In their Titans-Texans preview, they talked about the houston texans exactly 0 times. lol jesus weeps

Looking forward to not having an 8-8 year!

Plenty of blame to go around

Kris Brown- what is that 10/16 on FG’s on the year, with 2 last second misses the last 2 games? Do we need to draft a kicker?
Matt Schwab- On the 4 sacks, I thought he held on to the ball a little too long. He was not as accurate as usual.
Frank B- I think I’ve read this atleast 10 times on this site, and me and my friends were screaming at the TV before every 2rd down to USE A QB SPY.
Dunta- gave up the 1st TD, missed a pick that my little sister could’ve made and got juked out like a mother on a vince run. I’ve been a Dunta supporter for almost the whole season, but this was the final straw.
O-line- gotta give Matt a little more time, esp when they only rush 4.

Gotta win the next 4, or season over.

You forgot one

Gary Kubiak – you have a top 10 QB & the best WR in the NFL. 8 seconds on the clock & 1 time out. Why aren’t you taking a shot at the end zone, or at least better field position for Kris Brown? You have no killer instinct, & we’re getting sick of you not trusting Schuab in the clutch.

I would challenge you to a battle of wits, but you appear to be unarmed.

Another huge play I just remembered

Slaton dropping that easy pass. Looks like he would’ve ran for the 1st down if he caught it. Led to the Titans’ GW field goal drive.

No, the outcome is not fixed but...

I have a funny feeling that we are all being taken for a ride here boys by the NFL. I’d like to put a finger on why some games some elite teams suddenly just don’t perform to what they’re capable of? Parity is good business for the greatest show on earth…sorry but I’m just getting weird feeling about these NFL games. I love watching them though.

Meh

Save the conspiracy talk. The refs sucked but we lost the game fair and square.

i'm not thinking logically right now (never been)

but I’m not really focusing about whether ‘the game was lost fair and square’ but more on ‘what if some NFL games (not just this game) are just some sort of reality show’ – given some teams ‘uncharacteristically’ dial down on their performance (or vice versa)…nvm I think I don’t have a grip of reality right now after this loss.

Hawks fan here, I’ve been paying attention to the Texans more and more over the last two years or so as the Hawks have sunk out of contention. Probably not a great time for positivity, but so be it.

At least next week

we won’t have to worry about a mobile QB and a super lightning quick RB. Seriously, I thought our defense was okay given the challenges. Offense is what lost us this game.

If we D up like that next week, we will hand the Colts their first loss of the season.

Huh??? The Colts?

Yeah, the Colts are inept; the Texans’ secondary is amazing; the Texans are good at winning close games. What are you smoking? Colts win BIG. I’ll come back here when they do. (No, I really wish the Texans could win, but they won’t b/c the Colts are better all around – at home, on the road, anywhere). Face reality – NO PLAYOFSS!!!

holy crap your one of "Us"?

because the way your conducting yourself had me fooled. also if you were a texans fan, you’d know that the Texans, although infuriating and mistake prone, play more close games than i think any other team should ever play. I’m shocked if we lose by more than 10 points and on the flip side i’m equally shocked if we ever blow somebody out. Texans have an offense that can keep games close and as of late, a stingy defense especially against the run. (not so much against the pass tho)

Looking forward to not having an 8-8 year!

5-5 team...

…still in playoff contention. If fans want to have hope, that’s fine. You don’t need to be a douche and run around screaming NO PLAYOFFS.

Texans are 1 game behind and don’t have that brutal of a schedule.

by TexansDC on Nov 23, 2009 11:55 PM CST up reply actions

We are better than 8-8 this year.....IF the offense can get a running game going.

Either way, we are NOT going to the playoffs.

Get that idea out of your head. This team is not good enough to go to the playoffs. It’s just the facts,.

Man I am so disappointed

in our guys in all 3 phases of the game. Receivers dropping passes, the running game coming up short, and of course Chokie Brown. Schaubie could have done better in a few situations, but he was on his game.

by HTexans4EVA on Nov 24, 2009 1:36 PM CST reply actions

We should NEVER have been in that position to begin with.

SCORE TOUCHDOWNS and you don’t need to rely on one guy to kick a field goal.

It is inexcusable that this offense can’t put points on the board against that crappy defense.

How many dropped passes did we have? AJ dropped 3 or 4 alone…when does THAT ever happen?

Poor execution by the offense is what lost this game. Period.

Hell the Titans offense didn’t beat us. As well as they played they couldn’t score anymore touchdowns than we did.

People want to call this VY vs The Texans…..THAT WAS A WASH. THAT GAME WAS 14-14.

The real game was Bironas vs Brown. END OF STORY.
