Around SBN: Dissecting Nick Diaz's Positive Drug Test

I was wrong (there's a first time for everything)

Crow

That is what I should call my observations from the game.  I feel like I should eat a lot of crow after watching that game.

Let me start with what I actually observed,

1 what the hell are we doing with Chris Brown as the main RB "Gary are you on pot?" I don't care if SS drops the ball at least he helps extend drives and makes the play action believable.  With Brown in the game, you don't even have to respect the running game.

2 Kris Brown (get you head screwed on straight you have one job, yes I know they where all long this week but that last one was so far left is was more likely to get to New Orleans than it was the goal posts.

3. O line when you are run blocking it is a good idea to actually block someone!

4 D really you guys couldn't figure out that there should be a spy VY on third downs?   And that he couldn't beat you with his arm but once every 10 plays so leave those guys on an island and cover the run and VY.

5 I hate to admit this but VY impressed me last night, (it makes me feel dirty just typing it) he made good decisions on almost every play,  and did a great job of extending drives on 3rd downs all night.  I normally HATE running type QB's in the NFL, but the way he is playing the position right now as a game manager, with a little something extra, is the right combination for giving a guy with his skill set a chance to be successful in the league.  Most running QB's I've seen in the past tend to make mistakes when they are in or out of the pocket and tend to throw a lot of picks.  This is exactly what VY did his first time as a starter.  He seems to have matured a lot since then, and I think we should get used to the idea of seeing him twice a year.

6.  I also hate to admit that as much as I have been a Kubs supporter, I am beginning to believe that he can build a good team, he can train talented  guys up, he can even pick good assistants and GM's.  But I don't think he can teach a team to win, in this league any more.  Almost every other coach teaches their QB to recognize D's and adjust plays at the line if necessary, Gary won't let that happen.  Gary refuses to admit that the Wildcat works, despite all evidence to the contrary, and sticks with the same plays and the same play book he's been using since San Fransico.  The league has passed that by Gary,  it will make you a decent team but you won't be a Good team doing that!  The Texans have the personal to be at the top of the league every year, better than almost any other team out there, on both sides of the ball, so why hasn't it happened?  Gary, If you don't come out of the season with a 10-6 record you should be fired.  Sorry it's the truth, it's a competitive league, innovate or die.

7  Let me just say the best part of the game was the fans, they where all in their seats when the game started, They yelled loud on every play, overall the 12th man did his job.  It was the most impressive Fan effort I have yet to see at Reliant.  Also a surprisingly small number of VY or Titans Jerseys.

Kubiak needs to take responsibility for the mistakes

They didn’t adjust to VY’s running game at all, that was the most frustrating part of last night for me. After the first few times, they should have been making him pay for that. They only got one decent hit on him. At least make it hurt when he pulls that shit.

I also agree that using Chris Brown so much was moronic. I think he might be useful in short yardage situations, but on first/second and long it should be Slaton or Moats.

Kris Brown missing FGs isn’t Kubiak’s fault, but these other two points are…

Hits on VY...

Ok, so he ran for three first downs, I think. Two of them, he ran out of bounds while being pushed (Cush got a bullshit penalty on one) and the other, you say we hit him…. Am I missing something? Should we have said, “fuck it” and hit him full-bore, out of bounds?

The subject of your post should be re-titled “Grasping at straws.”

I thought the same thing,

If Cushing had known he was going to get that PF for the push, I’m sure he would have tried to drill him into next week.
