Being a Texan Fan

Being a Texan fan for the last couple of seasons has to me been like falling in love with the wrong woman, over and over again. At the beginning of this season, I was hopeful and ready for “our season.” I was ready for our first W at home against a team with a rookie QB. We lost 7-24, our worst lost in the season.  But then the Texans played at Tennessee against a team that the season before went 13-3, a AFC south division team (The afc south aint no joke) and won.  I’m just ecstatic, because they showed me that we got the tools to be a dominant team in the AFC.  Then they lose to Jags at home by a touchdown, and every other game we’ve lost since then has been a touchdown or less. Jags 24-31, at Arizona  21-28, at indy 17-20 and the most recent lost at home against the titans 17-20. All games we could, and should have won. I feel like I’m just being teased,  like they’re telling the fans we can take you to the promise land but not just yet.  At this point I’m fed up, but am I going to stop watching? Hell no. We’re 5 and 5 and we 6 games to go. I know its crazy to think we can win the next 6 especially when you got the colts and the pats in those games, but you have to be a little crazy with these rollercoaster, edge of your seat games.

Note how the current motto of this site is:

“The Roller Coaster that is Texans Fandom.”

Being a Texans fan since the beginning of the franchise’s history i know exactly how you feel. Its always been a roller coaster following this team, but to me that will make our eventual success that much greater. I still have hope for this season because we have been so close on 4 of our 5 losses. Every game left is winnable if we Play 60 and if we dont play well it wont really be a surprise.

I'm just glad it is good enough to be a rollercoster

the first 4 years where more like living in expansion team hell. At least now we can hope for a reasonable number of wins in a season!

You mean the carnivals

where you are reasonably certain that the guy who put the ride together was smoking meth and almost certainly left out a bolt or four?

Yay, sports.

Well Said

Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...

I like your analogy....

Falling in love with the same woman over and over again….

Well, it’s time for this woman to get a new hairdo, get on some make-up and put on her little black dress…as in bring in Bill Cowher for a total make-over!

I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?

Hope is like a treasure which one cannot carry alone.

We’re a long shot from the playoffs…. There’s still a chance… though highly improbable, is still a chance. The broncos would need to lose two games (most likely colts and eagles) Steelers and ravens would need to lose at least one more… and theres so many 5-6 teams out there… theres still a shot. A long shot but its still something. I can actually feel weight on my shoulders…. i can only imagine what the players and coaches are feeling. 5 more games…. 6-5 jags… 4-7 seahawks….1-10 rams…. 5-6 dolphins… 7-4 patriots…

I know its been a cliche lately but these next games have the possibility of being big games for us.

"Hope is like a treasure which one cannot carry alone."

That may have to be the new BRB motto.
