The Cower Era
Get ready for an explosion in 2010.
When we hire Bill Cower in the offseason, he will bring the type of tenacity and leadership this young team needs. He will bring in his own O-Coordinator and D-Coordinator, and change this defense to a 3-4 and draft accordingly. He will also draft accordingly to his smashmouth style of offense. We will let Dunta, Pitts, and Walter walk, freeing up money to resign Daniels, Demeco, Pollard, and bring in Casey Hampton. Here is my Cower mock draft:
1st round - Sean Weatherspoon - Missouri - OLB - 6'2 245
2nd round - Javier Arenas - Alabama - CB - 5'9 200
3rd round - Charles Scott - LSU - RB - 5'11 233
4th round - John Jerry - Mississippi - OG - 6'5 348
5th round - Jordan Lake - Baylor - FS - 6'2 205
6th round (A) - Danario Alexander - Missouri - WR - 6'3 215
6th round (B) - Zoltan Mesko - Michigan - P - 6'5 236
7th round - Shawn Luavao - Arizona St. - OG - 6'3 310
New look Texans 2010:
OFFENSE:
QB - Schaub/Orlowski
RB - Slaton/Scott
WR - Johnson/Davis
WR - Alexander/Anderson
TE - Daniels/Casey
FB - Leach/Casey
LT - Brown/Butler
LG - Studdard/Luavao
C - Caldwell/Myers
RG - Jerry/Caldwell
RT - Winston/Butler
DEFENSE:
RE - Williams/Smith
NT - Hampton/Okam
LE - Okoye/Smith
OLB - Cushing/Diles
ILB - Ryans/Bentley
ILB - Barwin/Bentley
OLB - Weatherspoon/Diles
SS - Pollard/Barber
FS - Wilson/Lake
CB - Arenas/McCain
CB - Reeves/Bennett
Nickel CB - Quin
Any thoughts on this drastic change. I have been a Texans fan since the get go and am sick of this losing attitude, and Kubiak's inability to have his players ready. I'm ready for the Cower area.

Many thoughts...
but the only one I feel comfortable sharing without knowing you is that its good you have a dream, even if you think Cowher is spelled “Cower”

All you nancies who think Kubiak will be fired are going to be pretty disappointed in the offseason.

How can you be so sure?
Do you have a direct line to McNair, because Id like to hop on it for a few questions…

of course I cant be 100% sure. I just see it has highly unlikely based on what we see of McNair’s characters. So all these fire kubiak and hire so and so threads that have been around since WEEK 1 amuse me, because I just dont see it as being likely when the season is over.

This makes me sick
Fuck any of you assholes who have given up. We won 4 in a row last year when we were 3-7 didn’t we? We do that now that puts us at 9-5. So fuck off with this nonsense. fuck this defense would be ATROCIOUS.
SMH.
This is ridiculous. I have many adjectives to describe it but im going to keep them to myself.
Barwin, ILB? REALLY?!
facepalm
I think he posted it earlier this year and it was ripped up. I meak okoye as a de in a rhree four? Doesn’t make sense

Barwin
Is definitely NOT an inside linebacker lol There is a reason teams like New England were really looking at him going into the draft, and it was because of his potential as an outside linebacker in pass rushing situations.
In a 3-4 the inside linebackers would be Ryans and Cushing with Diles/Adibi on one side and Barwin on the other.
And winged unicorns will fly down from the heavens and smite your enemies with their magical rainbow laser-farts...
I think it'd be a terrible idea.
For one, you can’t take a pass first offense and turn it into a “smash mouth” offense and expect the same results. We’d struggle offensively for several years before we had all the pieces necessarry for it to work. Likewise you can’t change from 4-3 to 3-4 defensively and expect it to work right off the bat. We don’t have the defensive personell to make it work now and it would take at least a few years to see results. What you’d have is offensive and defensive changes that both require alot of attention in freeagency and the draft in order to make the roster fit the scheme, it’s just impossible to do both at the same time so it’d end up taking longer to get both on track.
If Cowher took a coaching job here, if he had any sense he’d adapt to the personell on the team rather than try to force into something it’s not. Besides, I actually like Kubiak as headcoach and think he’s done a pretty damn good job so far considering he was taking over the worst team in the league and is now on the verge of a playoff push.

We're a game out of the wildcard right now I think
With 6 games to play. Obviously we’re still in the hunt, but we’re also going to need to pull out some of these close games. If we pull out a win this week against the Colts i’d say we’re right back in the thick of it with about as good a chance as anyone. If we lose to the Colts we need to start watching the scoreboards across the league every week. Not to say this is a “must win” game, but it’s a pretty big one.
Can't take jokes?
For one, there wasn’t really a joke there. There was quite a bit of sarcasm directed at the doom and gloom naysayers, all I did was restate my opinion of the team’s status, which if you haven’t is almost the exact opposite of those who the “joke” was directed at… So I don’t really get it.
Unfortanetly I see us winning ten games and missing the playoffs. Steelers, bengals broncos and chargersw already have seven wins. We already need some help.

Even if we miss the playoffs
I would consider a ten-win season a success.

I should add that
I would be very surprised if we won ten games this season.

I don't know
I think the wheels are about to come off on the Broncos, and quite possibly the Chargers too leaving the team who falls apart the least as division champ. Right now I think our stiffest competition is 2 of the trio of Steelers, Bengals, and Ravens. But I don’t expect any of the potential wildcard teams to win out or even come close to it, so I don’t think we really need help, we just need for those teams to not decide to suddenly turn the tables and catch the world on fire. I think the Texans are as good a team as any of the other wild card contenders in the AFC.
Dont know about Cowher
(he’s a good coach no doubt) But one thing i do know is that kubes needs to go if the texans arent in the playoff hunt, and no i wouldnt care if we miss the playoff by one game…
