Open Game Day Thread: Colts v. Texans

Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans, Nov 29, 2009 12:00 PM CST

This would be a fine time for the Texans to quell the demons that have surfaced the last few weeks. The first time Kris Brown lines up for a field goal, you can find me staring down the bottom of an empty bottle of Coors Light.

Leave your pre-game, in-game, and/or post-game prayer chains and good vibes in the Comments below. GO TEXANS!

Once

We beat the Colts once. We had Ron Dayne and Kris Brown to thank for it. We can do this…

To be fair

He had a few pretty good blocks last game.

Not that it makes up for ten carries of absolute suck.

Why, Kubes? Why?

Exactly what has he seen from Chris Brown, this or any other season, that makes him think Brown is a better weapon at RB than Slaton or Moats?

Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...

Kubes irrational love for people named Ch/Kris Brown

Will make a lot more sense after you read MDC’s upcoming fake convo post where we find out that Chris Brown cheated on Rihanna with Kubes.

It should be up within 6 months of the season ending.

The Game And The Media

I would like to get this off my chest as it has always bugged me but I never have said anything. The fact is the media and what ever team (specially NE) the Colts play that day need to get a room. The love lust they have with what ever team the Colts are playing should be rated R.
It’s quite evident that the media lives for a chance to see the Colts go down simply because they aren’t their beloved NE.
Sorry about my rambling on, man that feels better, lol. With that being said, I look for a real good game today seeings how you Texans always play the Colts tough but at the end of the game I look for the Colts to win it.
As you can see I joined here today but have been reading it for some time, didn’t want you to think I just joined today to be a troll.
Here’s wishing your team no injuries and a good game……………GOOD LUCK.

by Ufanforreal on Nov 29, 2009 9:24 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

Welcome, Ufanforreal

Best of luck to you today.

I think you might be overstating it a bit when you say that “the media lives for a chance to see the Colts go down.” The media loves stories and angles. The Colts losing their first game of the season would be such a story and angle. It’s not personal. Frankly, I’d love to be in your shoes, complaining about unfair treatment from the media while starting out 10-0. I’d lap that sort of unfair media bias up with a spoon.

Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...

by Tim on Nov 29, 2009 9:31 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

The only bias the media has against the Texans is

They haven’t won anything yet.

Therefore “they will keep it close” but look for “[Quarterback who has won at least one playoff game] to win.”

And frankly that’s fine. It makes your show not worth watching, since you can’t tell us anything new, but there has never been a pregame show worth watching anyway.

Re: 9 Years

You’re probably right. But you know what would cheer me right back up? The 9 years of winning and playoff success that accompanied the hating.

What Tim said

In fact, I’ll go so far as to say I’d feel like a dick whining about the media not loving my team when I’d seen that team win roughly 57 games/year over that timeframe.

Yay, sports.

by MDC on Nov 29, 2009 9:44 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Didn’t mean for it to sound like whining simply it does get old ,you can ask most Colt fans sure we love the winning but the constant backhanded comments from a few of the so called experts is madding.

by Ufanforreal on Nov 29, 2009 9:50 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Colt fan frequently complains about media hate and disrepsect

I’ve never understood that. Your team is on national TV as much as anyone. Tony Dungy is there to constantly sing praises on the SNF set. Every time they’re on TV, there are constant features on Peyton Manning and how great he is. If anything, the Colts are absolutely ADORED by the sports media.

Not saying you’re a troll or anything – I just disagree with you. And really – all these consecutive years as a deep playoff threat/Super Bowl contender – come on.

by bigfatdrunk on Nov 29, 2009 9:44 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

My only disagreement would be that...

…while there’s a ton of love heaped Peyton’s way, there’s still a consensus out there that the Colts are not as good as their record this year and over the past couple years. Reading the headlines and stories of any of the close games the Colts have had illustrates it. Personally, I don’t care about press coverage- I care about Ws – so it doesn’t really bother me. But I do think the media by and large believes the Colts are overrated, particularly this year.

by LTTelamon on Nov 29, 2009 11:20 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

And before I go any further...

… I agree with the general sentiment that the other team’s blog isn’t a good place for such discussions, and I’m certainly not looking for sympathy. Just wanted to add something to the discussion.

The question isn’t whether they win today, it’s can they carry today’s business like attitude and execution forward?

I hate IE also, but it works for watching the games.
