Andre Johnson Showing Once Again That He Gets It
The best wide receiver in the NFL has treated underprivileged kids to a shopping spree at Toys R Us for the holidays for the last several years (e.g., last year's shopping spree can be found here), but his charitable acts don't get anywhere near the attention they should. Perhaps mainstream recognition would follow if he changed his name to Andre Ochenta.
Texans fans know how fortunate we are to be able to root for a guy like this. Here's hoping the rest of the country gets a glimpse of what Andre Johnson's all about.

LOL!!! So true. If he were a clown seeking attention, the national media woud be all over him.
Andre is way cool. Almost too cool for words.

In my opinion
You can always tell when someone is truly trying to help people or a cause when they choose not to make a spectacle of it. There are those who give to charity or host events simply for the recognition, they go out of their way to make sure everyone knows how good a guy they are… I guess in the end it doesn’t really matter as the people need help don’t really care whether they massage someone’s ego or not getting it, I just think it’s refreshing to see people who, as you say, “get” that it’s about helping other people rather than yourself.

My sister had a kidney disorder and eventually had to get my Dad's kidney when she was in grade school.
We spent a lot of time on “Pill Hill” in Seattle, at Children’s Hospital there. It was a sad place to be. Before the transplant she was there non-stop for several months, as home care wasn’t an option with how sick she was.
Seattle’s Children’s services Alaska, Montana, Idaho and Washington, the largest region of any of the “major” Children’s Hospitals in the country. My sister was in a ward with several cancer patients, including an amazingly positive and beautiful little Inuit girl with leukemia. Although I hope I’m wrong, I’m pretty sure didn’t make it.
There were a few lesser known Seahawks and Huskies that used to pop in semi-regularly, no tv coverage or recognition, they weren’t stars but they were athletes with tremendous capacity to give some attention to these sick sick kids, some of the kids (mostly the ones who were from out of state) didn’t always have family around all the time, as many parents had to work and provide what they could so they wouldn’t lose EVERYTHING even as their kids were dying. They were semi-regulars with some of the kids, and I just remember being impressed with the honor and integrity of those men.
Andre has been my favorite non-Seahawk for a couple years now, and this story just makes me appreciate him all the more.

It could be forgiven
if it was all in a 30 second span, I meant who hasn’t double/triple clicked a link to post, etc. But these occurred over a 17 minute interval.

That Would Make This Post
While assuredly becoming someone’s new avatar.
Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...
Damn your black hearts...
In other news I just got back from an intimate luncheon where I got to meet none other than…..Rick Smith.

So you decided to take pictures instead.
And use that picture as the cover of your yearly christmas cards sent to friends and family members.
A little unorthodox, but it’s not too outlandish.
I’ll be expecting mines the next time I check my mailbox.
Ok so actually it was a guy named rick Smith who works in the Rockets organization in sales.
What??! I never said it was THAT Rick Smith!

I can't imagine that
they would be nicer than yours. So im not gonna feign too much interest on them.
Post REC'd
It’s too bad we didn’t have the REC function around when he did this last year.
Or the year before that, when Walmart tried to fuck Andre over.
If the Treasury Secretary doesn't have to pay taxes, then why do I?
I bet AJ could have broke the tackles from that Black Friday Walmart Stampede and still scored!

What a classy guy. How couldn't you like a guy like this?

That literally is one of the nicest things he could have done. I see that and I think I want to buy his jersey now.
NFL players like that are the best of the best, and it doesn’t hurt he is pretty damn good at football, too.

he's ok.
He’s no Greg Camarillo, but we make him look alright.

Camarillo
I know we have rules for how we can refer to white WRs. My question is does an Italian count as white? Because I need to know if Camarillo is gritty and has great hands, or if I should make IROC-Z jokes about him.
Yay, sports.
If you white, you're Wes Welker
Internet: Suck it, You “gritty” white slot receiver with “great hands”!
Greg Camarillo: Im not Wes Welker.
Internet: You white, then you Wes Welker
Chad Henne: You are white.
Greg Camarillo: That’s true, I am white.

He's white

I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?
