Mike Shanahan at Washington Redskins, Repercussions to Texans?
Not too soon to speculate, is it? Mike Shanahan is reportedly talking to the the Redskins about taking over that team as head coach. This raises the question that we have all been asking ourselves for some time now here on BRB: "If Mike Shanahan takes another NFL head coaching position, will son and Texans' Offensive Coordinator, Kyle Shanahan follow? Yes, it is all speculation but there are some potential serious implications to what is going on here in Houston. For one, Gary Kubiak is under pressure to deliver the Texans their first winning season. Whether Shanny Jr leaves now, later or never, it could at the very least pose a distraction to this team. If he leaves now, I guess Coach Kubiak will just take over the OC position himself through the end of the season. But, he is trying to do more than win out this season. Wouldn't losing Shanny Jr be a blow to Kubiak's future or will he just go out and find another friend or hire up an existing coach who can take over the OC position and keep the machine rolling?

I dont think Mike would take him from Gary unless Gary lost his job. These guys have too much history with eachother, I dont think Mike would cross that line.

I think we'd then see
how much of this offense is Gary’s and how much is Shan’s playcalling.
It wouldn’t help in the micro-management area that has been discussed about Kubiak. The offseason would be spent teaching the new OC how we run our offense.
Not the best scenario, obviously.

I love Kubiak's playbook
Although, I would like to expand it to include more screens and draws…plus, I would scrap the small O-line and pump it up and get away from zone-blocking….okay, okay, that’s not changing. The pass-attack is great, though. That is the part I really like and appreciate. Perhaps an OC coming in with a stronger personality that can bring in some things that he likes too, to add to what already works. Losing Shanny Jr, wouldn’t be the worst thing that could happen. The guy is riding on training wheels behind Kubiak’s system here, isn’t he?
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?
that's my belief
but I don’t know this.
And experience has shown that the next guy will most likely be a project as well, so imo it would be a wash except for changing something thats working, for the most part.

good point
We would miss his smile around the office, but the next guy moving UP into that position would be inheriting Kubiak’s playbook and just executing Kubiak’s gameplan, yada, yada, yada….and we show up next year with similar expectations.

I would think little Shan would not go the redskins.
That would be Nepotism at it’s finest, not to mention DC is a shithole of a place to live.

We made the transition from Sherman to Shanahan ok
No reason to think we wouldn’t do the same with Baby Shan’s replacement.
