Dunta Robinson - Unheralded Superstar...ha..ha..
This article was linked to in the comments section of TexanDC's fanpost, but I feel its outstanding "analysis" deserves a front page showcase. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Dunta showed some character off the field, very glad. To imply that he's one of the game's best corners though? Bah, humbug.

Its fucking stupid
The number of TDs that Dunta has avoided giving up by committing PI alone would probably put him at the top of the league in sucking.

Word.
How in the world could anyone doing analysis on this fucking douche completely ignore the horrible PI’s he makes in every game? Can we get them to add those totals into the oposing WR’s receiving yards too? Because they sure as shit count.

Makes me want to SMASH.
We’ve had good discourse with Solomon before, so I’d like to hear him try to justify writing that article. For the life of me, I just can’t see beyond him defending a player and refusing to hold him accountable just because he has been media-friendly in the past.
It doesn’t bode well for his credibility.

My comment over there was simply...
“Don’t fall for this ploy, Rick. Jerome, you should be ashamed of yourself.”

He has obviously always had the inside track on Dunta
I’m sure they’re friends. I read it like a friend sticking up for a friend, rather than a real sports commentary. He sounds like he’s apologizing for Dunta throwing up on a stripper.

Is trying to get up there with Dickie Justice on absurdity.

Yeah,
If this was a Dick column, you could chalk it up to him being a blathering retard cockbreathed shitbag. From Jerome? It’s just sad and makes me hate the Chron a little more. Solomon, you are better than this and the column makes you look like a fuckwit of the highest order.
Yay, sports.

Like I said before...
Anyone who donates time or money to good causes always gets a thumbs up in my book.
On the field, Dunta sticks his thumb up his butt and stands there til he dives at the ground in a mess of dreadlocks….or does he?
On the year (Through Seattle – Game 13)
Passes thrown at Dunta: 40-61 (65.6%) for 456 yards, 3 TDs (which translates to a QB Rating of 104.3) . Dunta has 0 INTs, 7 Passes Defended, and 8 penalties. He has 42 tackles and 9 missed tackles. On coverage alone: He’s 47th out of 107th at PFF. 84th in run support. Tied for the most penalized CB in the NFL.
I dunno, QBs don’t seem to take advantage of him enough…but he’s, well, he’s kind of decent on pass coverage. He’s not one of the best corners in the league, but….he’s not as bad as we thought? (Devil’s advocate is tough to play…especially with Dunta).
by TexansDC on Dec 23, 2009 3:34 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
And by comparison
Champ Bailey’s given up nearly as many yards, Scrabble has a similar QB Rating against, and TDs Charles Woodson has given up 2 more than Dunta.
All are acknowledged for their good cover defense. So he’s somewhat comparable. (Why am I defending Dunta? I don’t know, but I feel like the argument can’t be one-sided…)

Its the 8 penalties that are the biggest issue. How many yards on those PIs? I mean how many of those would have been TDs or long long completions?
by nolander on Dec 23, 2009 3:54 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Couldn't tell you the yards
But agreed, the penalties are brutal. 8 this year, 5 in a shortened 2008 season coming back post injury.
A part of me thinks it’s because he has come back without working into game shape….which goes back to him not getting his ass in camp.

I Don't Think It Is Level of Fitness
I think it is the knee. It took me two years to fully rehab my knee after suffering a torn ACL & meniscus. That’s with hard work. You get most of your strength back in a few months, but the coordination takes a long time. Everybody I talked to had the same experience. And you never make it back to 100%. You can see that when receivers accelerate past him.
I would assume that in his case, he has to become more reliant on technique and guile than athleticism. But I don’t think he has figured that out.

And as my final comment before a reply...
Anytime someone completes a pass against Dunta or breaks a tackle….what’s the response here? “Fuck Dunta.” No other Texan gets that. When Dallas Clark was abusing Brian Cushing, no one said “Fuck Cushing.” We’ll criticize him easily….mostly because he was a douche with the shoes and held out which meant he never got into shape or got into the team….but he’s the one we’ll blame the most.
Is Dunta great? No. Is he garbage? The penalties are brutal, but he does a decent job of coverage. He’s not playing as poorly as Chris Myers or Chris Brown.

Have to agree with rivers on this one. I personally got over the fuck dunta thing awhile ago, and he has basically admitted that he totally fucked up with the way he took things and acted. That said he is still pretty shitty. Maybe as the #2 or nickel he wouldn’t look so bad. Maybe.
by nolander on Dec 23, 2009 5:20 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Only defending him for the sake of argument
The raw numbers show there’s still something there. When you look at CBs who take 75% of more of the stats Dunta’s 24th out of 48 in terms of coverage (the first priority of a CB).
I think kozanack’s points were pretty good up there. If he focused on the technique (which would cut down on the penalties)…then he may be worth something as a #2 CB. Maybe…(hopefully? At least enough to make him enticing trade bait for like a 3rd rounder?)

Actually
When Cushing was getting sodomized by Clark, my response was along the lines of “Fuck Cushing, he fucking eats ’tweenus in pass coverage.”
Yay, sports.

My response was:
“Fuck Frank Bush for thinking that any LB in football can cover Dallas Clark”.
On the other hand, Dunta is a CB. And CBs are supposed to be able to cover receivers. I got over the contract dispute a long time ago and stuck up for him early on. But quite frankly, the guy has played like dick all year long.
I hope that they tell him they’re still interested in signing him to a long-term deal after this season. Then when he and his agent (most likely also a greedy fuckface) come in for negotiations, they should put a one-dollar bill on the table as their offer.

I agree with you
but part of the problem is Dunta’s attitude. If he didnt wear the “Pay Me Rick” shoes we would probably hate him a little less. If he didnt demand money he didnt deserve in the offseason than we would probably hate him a little less. Chris Myers and Chris Brown, while they suck, dont bother us attitude wise. They also dont make the money Dunta is making and thus we have less invested in them as a franchise money wise, and in terms of being able to have someone else with the extra money.
I do feel like we hate on Dunta more than he deserves it, but Solomon’s article makes it seem Solomon is Dunta’s poppa, and thats not good journalism.

Titans get destroyed vs the Chargers!
I had more wings today than VY’s passer rating. One less team to worry about.

Yeah VY is horrible
Teams are figuring out you can let CJ get 140 yards and shut down KY, because he is horrible. I hope so much that he is their qb next year
