Eric Winston is overrated and Chris "double agent" Brown
Eric Winston, he did a wonderful job of just falling on his backside giving up the sack on the first play of the game. Knocking Schaub out for enough time for Rex Grossman and the Jax D to put us into a hole. It seems like every week I see Winston being schooled by whoever the DE is we are going against, and today it wasnt even against a good one.
How is this guy not ready to play on the first snap? Dont take this as me blaming him for the loss, because that is far what how I feel. This loss was a result of crappy play calling, not being able to run the ball, and that clown Chris Brown whom I will from now on only refer to as "Double Agent" because he may as well be wearing Jaguars colors. Seriously, who the hell was he even trying to get that awful throw to?
And after watching that replay I am even more angry at Winston, he just tried to dive at Harvey's knees! Didnt even try to block him away from Schaub. 11 and 12 year olds I coach understand to stay with your man and block him past the QB if he beats you, and Winston cant do it.

I hope Winston just slipped.
That was Harvey’s first sack of the year i think. Fuck Chris Brown as well.

Didn't look like a slip to me. Looked like he just dove at Harvey's legs
Duane Brown got beat on the play as well and Schaub was running from the RDE when he got blasted by Harvey. Looked like both tackles were not ready for the 1st snap. Incredible. Schaub deserves better.
It took the Astros 44 years to get to the Series, the Oilers-Texans are due to get to the big dance...Go Texans!!!!!

Sounds like poor preparation by the coaching staff to me
To all Houston sports fans, Houston is the 4th biggest city in America, there will be traffic on the way to your respective sports game. Come Early, Be Loud, Stay Late.
what's new?

Schaub deciding he was going to step up in the middle of the pocket and try to run was the mistake. He should have just thrown the ball away. He holds the ball entirely too long when he cant find someone open. You could see the difference when he came back and was afraid of taking another hit, he got the ball out quick and didnt mess around. He needs to do that all the time.

That's Schaub's Only Real Problem
He holds the ball too long at times. If nobody is open, throw the damn ball away.
We are an Alex Gibbs team
We chop block at times. Although that definitely seems like a weird play to have both of them diving. Maybe they misheard the play.

It was an anomalous play
…with a very bad result,…Schaub having his shoulder dislocated. I don’t think it was a dirty play on defensive players’ parts. Although, he did get hammered into the ground. Just unfortunate would be my conclusion.
I might say that the Jags’ DE’s probably planned their wide rushes and executed the play to a tee. There was no effort on their part to tie up with the offensive tackles. They were definitely trying to keep them at arms length. Winston and Brown, were not ready to move. It looks like they shuffled about once and then both dived. I’m not sure which one’s dive looked more futile.
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?
so here is a novel idea.
why can’t Chris DoubleAgent Brown just… take the tackle for a loss? God knows he’s used to it. or perhaps throw the ball out of bounds?
Looking forward to not having an 8-8 year!
Yes
He even said so after the game.
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?
WTF? Did HE have the ball?
Can anyone answer this….WHY the F* did our OC call that play on 1st down on the 5 yard line?
Even duct tape can't fix stupid
If it surprised you, it probably surprised the Jags.
sadly the element of surprise is overrated when your surprise is complete crap.

Smushiak will take us to the playoffs in 2009.
Okay, this is what Winston said about the play
He said it was a three-step drop pass and the one-shuffle and dive block is part of the play. That is supposed to give Schaub all the time he needs for the quick three-steps and unload the ball. I will have to go look again, but I might put this on Schaub for no getting rid of the ball when he was supposed to.
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?
Winston called it a cut block
The Texans offensive line specializes in cut blocks. The tackles did not execute, obviously, because both defensive ends went right by the tackles; plus, Schaub’s intended receiver must have been covered. Once Schaub saw he had no quick outlet and he felt the pressure, he stepped up in the pocket, but he was caught from behind and pounded unmercifully into the turf.
I can’t say it was a poor call. I can say that it was not executed by the blockers, the receivers or Schaub.
This could be a case for the argument that Schaub should be able to audible at the line if he sees the wrong defense. On a three-step drop pass-play like this, if the corners are playing up on the receivers, then that would be a good place to call an audible.
So, I could turn this around and say it is the coaches fault, because Schaub has no leeway to call audibles at the line.
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?
Schaub explained it by saying that...
…every play they have takes into account opponent blitzz/coverages and each player is supposed to know what to do on that pllay if the D blitzes or covers.
How the hell that works is beyond me because essentially you are saying you have the best ever plays in all of sports that don’t need adjusting.
Try telling Manning or Brady not to audible based on the read.
