Why we don't want Jon Gruden as a head coach
I think I just heard him call Aaron Kampan one of the best Packer defensive players. That is on par with the Dunta fellating we heard on Sunday, as Kampan has pretty much disappeared as a 3-4 OLB.
But at least this MNF game makes me feel a little better, if only because it shows us all two teams that commit more stupid, drive-killing penalties than the Texans. I need five more words.

Amen my brother.
No gruden. Please no Gruden. He’s as bad as Jack.

Kampman's 4th on the team in tackles, 3rd on sacks...
….on the 2nd stingiest defense (in terms of yards; 7th in terms of points allowed).
The team is 23rd in sacks (of which Kampman used to be a master), but they’re playing great defense and Kampman’s a contributor to that.

Not saying I want him as coach but...
Everyone rags on gruden becuase he did poorly in Tampa and give all the credit for his success there to Dungy, but what about what he did in Oakland? Does that not count? If anything, doing that under Al Davis should count for double.

again in his defense
the price was four draft picks, including the Bucs’ first and second round picks in 2002, their first round pick in 2003, and their second round selection in 2004, along with $8 million in cash;
Those picks were surely missed.

Also
He sucks and he took Tampa from a Super Bowl to what they are now. He took a Tony Dungy team and made them a Jon Gruden team. Imagine the damage he could do to a Kubiak team.

Gruden's coaching record is 95-81 with 5 division titles and a Super Bowl.
Kubiak is 27-32 with 2 4th place finishes in the division while currently sitting in the bottom of the AFC South.
Not advocating for Gruden (I really don’t think he’s a good fit for Houston), but I can’t imagine he’d do worse than Gary Kubiak.

you honestly cant compare the NFC South that Gruden coached in to the AFC South that Kubiak has faced. Kubiak also didnt inherit a superbowl team.

The Texans job is a lot better than...
…the Raiders job Gruden started with. Even though he wasn’t their coach, that Raiders team he built did go to the Super Bowl too.

On the plus side
If we hired him, it would get him out of the booth. There’s also the chance that given his verbal fellatio for Vince Young on MNF, he goes onto the field and professes his love for him, frightening Young and shattering his fragile psyche.
Probably still not worth it though.

he'd at least
wait in the line to give VY a high 5 after the game
Smushiak will take us to the playoffs in 2009.
