Mocking The Draft: Riott Speaks About The Houston Texans
Riott recently answered a ton of questions about your Houston Texans from the draft specialists over at SB Nation's site for all things NFL Draft, the aptly named Mocking The Draft. Since Riott is hardly the type to toot his own horn, I'll do it for him. Check out his thoughts, as well as the other excellent work being penned over at MTD, here.

The only thing I regret
is talking about the “Demeco to OLB” thing. At the time of writing, I considered it. Now I stand with my original statement that moving the 2nd best player on you team out of position does not bode well. I think Maualuga might transition to SLB pretty well though – it would be interesting to see anyway. He might be too much of a liability in coverage to pull it off.

Re: Rey
I think you’re right…DeMeco needs to stay at MLB. Michael Johnson is the answer!
Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...

Wow
Can someone look up who Michael Johnson’s agent is? I think Tm might be in for 10%.
Just kidding, I wouldn’t mind MJ if there is a defensive player run.
Let's get the Texans a better fight song.

My Lust Over MJ
Instantly ends if we can find a trading partner.
First choice is to trade down, but that requires someone wanting to move up. If we’re stuck at 15, I think Johnson’s probably the best we can do there, as Orakpo and E. Brown should be long gone.

Yeah, I'm pretty much alone in the world on that whole Maualuga thing.
For me though, it ALL depends on who is and is not available. At this point, I’d rather risk the Maualuga/DeMeco move than risk a project like Maybin.
What would be really great, is if Sintim or Matthews BLEW UP at the Combine and suddenly wouldn’t be reaches at 15. I mean – I don’t know if even a great Combine can even do that – but man I just want more choices at 15. I don’t want to be forced to take a tweener or have to take a huge reach on someone…. but I do think we need to attack the OLB issue EARLY in the draft.

Oh – and I have to clarify the way I did in my response to Matt’s counter on my Rey/DeMeco piece… that whole thing is MUCH more about how much I believe in DeMeco than anything else. I just have no doubts that he would excel as an OLB, because I think he’s a great football player first, and a great MLB second.
Anyway – that’s rehash but maybe y’all didn’t see it at Matt’s site.
