Demeco unhappy with "guys upstairs"?
This can't be good...
Demeco is unhappy with how his contract negotiations are going and the fact that he isn't currently locked up in a long-term deal. In an interview with 790 he makes a point that the core defensive guys are not being taken care of ahead of free agents when it comes to contract talks. He sympathizes with Dunta, saying "it's hard to participate when you are mad at the guys upstairs." Also, he is frustrated that he and his agent haven't been able to get a deal done quickly enough with the Texans management (sound familiar?).
I read it on Steph's blog at the Chron, but she cites Texans Talk forums in addition to the 790 podcast. There's also a good interview with Chester Pitts.

I hope that by "guys upstairs"
…he means God(s).
When I saw the original post on TTalk, my heart sank, and a DeMeco ulcer grew on top of my Dunta ulcer. Sigh.

I'm a bit peeved
And not so much at the front office. I understand DeMeco’s frustration, but at the same time the front office has all offseason and the entire regular season to strike a deal. Also take into consideration that if this becomes the last capped year, then DeMeco WILL be a Texan for two more years before he can reach free agency. Regardless, the fact that DeMeco is so frustrated so early is frustrating to me. These guys just fired half the defensive staff, hired (and promoted) new guys to those positions, had to make player cuts, negotiate trades, and are prepping like crazy for the draft. I think a deal will be reached soon though.

I Agree
There’s quite a bit of time left before DeMeco should be venting in public. He’ll get his long-term deal. Does anyone really doubt that the Texans are committed to keeping him?
Dunta’s situation is not comparable; he’s coming off a horrific injury and didn’t look like himself after that injury. DeMeco is not in that boat. He’ll get paid, and I bet it happens before the 2009 season starts.
Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...

Yeah, on the heels of the Dunta PR disaster, very disappointing that we're hearing this
DeMeco is THE leader of the defense. No doubt about it. Not an overly vocal guy. Quiet but strong leadership. To go public at this early juncture is completely unnceessary. He can’t possibly be thinking that public pressure will give him any kind of leverage in contract negotiations, so why do it? He saw that Dre’ was taken care of. How he could have any doubt that they would do the same for him is inconceivable. This offseason is turning into way too much drama.

Ugh
I certainly don’t like what appears to be a steady stream of veiled complaints about the front office. I hope it’s not Dicky getting in my head or anything, or it’s just silly season.
When I'm on the mic, I'm like global warming, you can't ignore me.

This ain't intramurals brother
It’s the business of the NFL. I hope that the Texans know the value of their defensive captain and are working hard to come up with a long term deal that will please both sides. I also hope that the response from DeMeco was just frustration about not knowing what his future with the Texans will be…I hope. BUT
My father always told me: you and wish in one hand and s**t in the other and see which one fills up first. Thanks Dad!!
Here’s to “wishing” this get’s taken care of quickly.
