John McClain is reporting that the Texans hired Geoff Kaplan to be their new head trainer. Kaplan was hired as an assistant trainer by the Oilers in 1995 after interning with the team in 1994 and the Green Bay Packers in 1993.
Kaplan's official bio doesn't say much about him, but Tennessee's training staff has had a good reputation for a while. Paul Kuharsky says that many Titans players have lauded Kaplan for his rehab abilities, especially Steve McNair.
I'm not sure what to think about the often-injured McNair praising him for rehab, but I guess that luring any personnel away from a divisional opponent is a good thing. I hope he does well, because if he doesn't than we're going to listen to Richard Justice whine some more about Kubiak letting Kevin Bastin walk.
