Kubiak Gives Some Input
Gary Kubiak gave his input to ESPN.com about what they are looking for in the #15 overall pick, Amobi Okoye, and Duane Brown.
Kubes said they will not go with a receiver or running back in the first round, so you might as well cross off Beanie Wells from your first round mocks. I would guess we won't go with either of those two positions in round two unless there is a can't miss (Beanie or Knowshon drop). My guess is round 3 or one of the round 4 picks will be used to address RB and we might see a later round receiver as well.
Also gathered from this article it seems LB or DB is the pick in round 1. You can say the odd man out is round 2. It seems Smith and Cody have filled voids for the DL and we might go there in round 3.

Thanks bro
That was actually a pretty good read.
Let's get the Texans a better fight song.

Don't need to read McClain tomorrow
thanks man. What I read was that Kubiak is looking for the most bang for his buck at 15. He wants a game changing player, and he looks like he is leaning much closer to BPA than filling a need.

I may be the King of misreading Kubiak
and it’s hard to tell what the context is without seeing McClain’s question, but I think he’s saying the exact opposite:
"Our first-round pick has to have a big impact on our team. The more the first-round pick continues to be an impact player, the better we’re going to get. We could still use an impact player at linebacker and on the backend (but) we’d be hard-pressed to take a receiver or a running back in the first round.
If McClain asked what would you do if Crabtree or Wells happen to fall to 15, doesn’t it sound like Kubiak is saying “yeah we have needs at LB and DB but we would feel some pressure to look at WR or RB as well.” Unless he’s using the words hard-pressed out of context.

"Unless he’s using the words hard-pressed out of context."
That’s how I interpreted. As in he means “it would be pretty difficult for us to take a WR/RB in the first because of the needs elsewhere.”
Yay, sports.
