Terrell Owens Released!

I hate you, Jerry Jones.

I hate you as well, Dallas Cowboys.

But thank you.

I hold a special cyst of hate in my heart for you, Terrell Owens, and I am glad you are out of the most publicized venue in sports.

Go rot on the Raiders, like all other washed up, overpaid players.

Oh yeah...link.

Terrell Owens released

Jerry jones should get out of football he made a very dumb mistake. The player he should never have signed is Tony Romo he is a joke. Now without T.O. you cannot win games just depending on your tight end.T.O. Going to end up in Redskin or Giants camp Two teams dallas could not beat with him.Dallas will not make playoff again upcoming season.I have been dallas fan for 35 years but must let them go I hope they dont win 6 Games and Tony romo have a Flop year.

The Giants wouldn't go to T.O. after the malcontent situation they have now...

Would they?

That would be great if they did though. To see TO run all over the Cowboys would be a pleasure.

I was assuming...

he’d wind up in Washington.

Yay, sports.

Gotta Be

DAL or WAS. Some people are also speculating he might be a fit for MIN, which I hope doesn’t happen for Sage’s sake.

Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...

Somehow...

T.O.

I live in philly and just heard that philly is very much interested in bringing T.O. back for a go to receiver for Mcnabb. If this happens dallas who was crushed by philly 44 to 6 in playoff will never beat them next year neither is they going to beat Giants,Or Redskins,What a mess jerry jones made. Also if cowboys is banking on cardinal receivers was stated that he will stay at arizona. Now cowboys has no power receiver williams is a joke . Damn

now I cant make fun of them for having the cancer known as T.O. Looks like the cowgirls are changing their gameplan some.

If you aint Texans then F@!# You!!!!

by houstonbola on Mar 5, 2009 1:51 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

Naa, gameplan hasn't changed

Jerry just realized that paying 14 million to a 36 year old receiver who can’t perform down the stretch was a waste. What I don’t understand is why they didn’t shop him as trade bait to the Chiefs, Bucs, Vikings, Dolphins, Jets, or Raiders. Im sure they could have finagled a 4th round pick out of someone for him. As much as I think he is a virulent disease to any locker room he enters, he probably is going to Canton. Thats worth something to somebody.

by Riott on Mar 5, 2009 3:06 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

I think

They couldn’t trade him because even though there are teams that want him, no one was willing to pay that kind of money for him. Also, no one wanted to make Jerry look like he came even remtely close to winning on this one.

Let's get the Texans a better fight song.

by Jake on Mar 5, 2009 7:51 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

No way did Jerry not shop TO

He simply found out that with his current contract, he has zero value, make that negative value. JJ took a $9 million dollar hit just to get rid of the cancer known as TO, and you expect that someone else is going to pay more money than that AND throw in a 4th rounder to boot. For what? The privilege of infecting their own clubhouse with a guy that can no longer justify his malignant presence by performing magnificent feats on the field. In a perfect world, he would be ignored like the spoiled brat that he is. In the NFL, however, someone will make probably the mistake of signing him. I truly hope that his overinflated sense of self worth precludes this from happening. He is not worth the veteran’s minimum.

I give the remotest shit about this, is if Smithiak wanted him and I aint worried about that. TO just needs to fade away.

I would consider...

changing teams, if they proved that stupid. But I tried that when the Oilers left, even went so far as to buy a KC chiefs hat….wore it like once, so I hope that doesnt happen.

Did the exact same thing!

KC and everything, except my hat was a taboggan (sp?). Eventually settled on the Browns when they came back in ‘99 because I didn’t want to be considered a front-runner in any way, shape, or form.
Funny.

Safety Valve?

Lot’s of talk about the draft and what we can do to shore up those holes in our defense. I hate the Cowpatties as much as anybody else, but I think I’d be willing to let this guy slide.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3954441

Could we afford Roy Williams? I feel like we haven’t spent that much on FA signings. He’s still young and talented, and could certainly make our 1st round selection a lot more focused on linebackers or linemen. Thoughts?

by TexanTerp on Mar 5, 2009 10:21 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

No Thank You

Roy Williams is AWFUL in coverage. As you know, that’s the last thing we need in a safety. I would not be interested in him at all, even if his price was reasonable (which it won’t be).

In All Fairness

Probably about 97%.

Still, he’s a reprehensible safety. I think he could be a very good linebacker, though.

by the utter lack of addressing the secondary? I would have at least kicked the tires of Lito Sheppard or Jim Leohnard to see if they were interested.

Re: Secondary

Yeah, I’m a bit surprised, especially considering the issues surrounding Dunta’s future. I would hope that Smithiak made a call to PHI about Lito. I think the Jets stole him.

They're still doing that??

I just now realized how little I watch ESPN now that I have NFLN. Great times, though I don’t mean to rub it in for people who are stuck with Time Warner’s evil horrible ass.

I'm hearing rumblings that they're going to get a deal done

I’m very, very hopeful. Apparently NFLN isn’t exactly doing as well as they’d like, so they’re trying to get it out to more viewers so they can make EVEN MORE fucking advertising revenue raise the profile of the NFL even higher.

After last years fiasco,

no one even cared the Favre retired.

As far as safeties go, I would rather have post accident Matt Stevens than Roy " I might as well be a thong cause I cant cover anything" Williams.

This morning I heard Mike Golic argue

…that TO was going to New Orleans. An unusually perceptive caller noted that the Saints had plenty of offensive weapons in NO (including the greatest-running-back-in-the-history-of-great-running-backs) and that what they needed was help on the defensive side of the ball. Golic, showing the intellect that made him famous, said that when such a weapon was available a team should go for it. Apparently that logic applies only to New Orleans however.

In any event, I’m kind of hoping he goes to the Kings of Methopotamia. It would make me hate them more and make it even more fun when they fall spectacularly short.

When I'm on the mic, I'm like global warming, you can't ignore me.

I think he ends up in Oakland

I just can’t see Al Davis passing on someone almost, I said almost, as psychotically egomaniacal as himself. Tennessee is always an option, as they did lose their biggest douchebag recently, and might be looking to fill the jerk vacuum that he left behind him.

And remember, the Cardinals are still the Cardinals. They might trade away Anquan and pick up TO, thinking he can fill the void. Miami maybe also?

by Riott on Mar 5, 2009 3:47 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Miami? No Way

Can’t imagine Parcells bringing that SOB in. He didn’t want him in Dallas, and he certainly shouldn’t want him now.

True, he’s not a perennial loser.

Your optimism is contagious

Or it could be the general sense of professionalism they have. Their avoidance of characters that are bigger than the team. You know – McNair’s business first approach.

Wow

I’ve never in a few years seen you act like such an asshole over at BON. Why the attitude on this site, Caradoc?

by Shake on Mar 6, 2009 6:49 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Fair enough

I don’t think my first post where I admit I kinda like OT was very assholish, do you? And what did it get me but this little rant by DisplacedTexan, who obviously has a different opinion. I felt entitled to take a swipe back, maybe a bit of a low blow, looking back, but nothing personal. (And if you know me from BON, you’ve seen me say worse things about UT.) I should have known that Texans fans would not like to be reminded of past performance, so sorry for that.

And now that I have you looking over my shoulder and calling me names, I will certainly watch what I say.

Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. If they get mad, you're a mile away AND you have their shoes.

by Caradoc on Mar 6, 2009 11:57 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

RE: Perennial Losers

DisplaceTexan was following the theme of the post, discussing T.O. as it affects the Texans because this is a Texans bog. He didn’ say anything personal about you, just negative things about one of the most controversial players in the game.

As far as perennial losers, how do you qualify this statement? The reason I ask is because the Texans and the Cowboys have one thing in common when it comes to losing; neither of those two franchises have won a playoff game since 1996. The only difference is we’ve only existed since 2002.

Let's get the Texans a better fight song.

by Jake on Mar 7, 2009 9:46 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

I didn’t think it was assholish. The guy was taking a shot – and not an over the top one. We’ve seen much, much worse.

The Texans are perennial losers. That’s just how it is. I’m excited to stop that trend this year, as I don’t look at two 8-8 seasons as bucking that trend. Sure, we do it the right way with good character guys, and we’re turning around our personnel issues – but things are getting better. Much Better.

The Texans made their own bed, that’s just how it is. Calling us perennial losers never bothered me because we’ve only been around a short time. We’re still getting our shit together. Regime 1 was a total failure, and Regime 2 is looking like it will succeed.

A lot of new teams had terrible first regimes. So what.

Just wait. The bandwagon’s about to fill up.

by HoustonDiehards on Mar 7, 2009 1:34 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Further Explanation

I called out Caradoc because I have “seen his work” over at BON for 2-3 years now. And taking cheap shots is beneath the level of discourse I have seen him capable of.

In summary, the guy is way better than that comment.

So you're saying that now I have to think of some witty Sig that will be applicable across all the SBN sites? Go TexanHornStros!

Funny Quote

Check out the end of the first paragraph in this article. Bob McNair obviously didn’t want T.O. in 2005, I think it’s safe to say his opinion was strong enough that it likely hasn’t changed.

Let's get the Texans a better fight song.
