Cushing? Really?

Jeff Backus starts at left tackle for the Lions. He desperately needs to be replaced / moved, and that’s where Eben Britton or William Beatty comes in. Ill bet alot that if Lions go Stafford first, they will reach for a tackle unless something ridiculous falls to them. Even if Stafford doesn’t start, it would be amazing for the Lions to start a rookie at left tackle when your 40+ million dollar investment learns with the clipboard, and Ol’ Daunte takes the hits from the rookie LT’s mistakes. It is literally a match made in heaven. If Cushing falls this far, I bet they can snag him in the 2nd, and if not him, Laurinitas (they need more help inside anyways).

Seriously, if Mayhew really wants to build his franchise to try and not suck, don’t take the big name – take the smart choice. Cushing will have no where near the impact at SAM than Beatty will at LT. Keeping their new franchise QB on his feet and throwing to Megatron should be their absolute #1 priority.

Don’t screw that up, Mayhew.
