BREAKING NEWS: Clay Matthews III Did NOT Test Positive For Steroids
Per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Clay Matthews III did not test positive for steroids as was reported by NFLDraftBible on April 2nd (the report is still on the site by the way). NFLDraftBible's reports that Illinois CB Vontae Davis and Brian Cushing tested positive as well were also false allegations.
I know that many of you were concerned that steroids may have been the cause for Matthews' startling rise up draft boards, and were waiting to hear whether he tested positive or not before you felt comfortable drafting him. What say you now BRB nation?

It's a shame...
that so many people were freaking out over this, rationalizing their thoughts this way and that. Why are so many so silly?
As for his slow rise up the depth charts, I imagine you can probably attribute it to him being a walk on. USC’s recruiting staff and coaches didn’t want to be made to look incompetent for (a.) not finding this gem themselves, and getting him on scholarship, or (b) not getting their own hand-picked scholarship atheletes to out-perform this kid that just wouldn’t stop making plays when given opportunity. I mean, they’re USC, for chrissakes… you can make an all-star team out of the kids they TURN AWAY.
Anyway, just another take on it.
Bacon tastes good... Pork chops taste good.
I'm glad..
that nonsense turned out to be false. I don’t know if we will draft any of those young, but good news anyway.
I’m so glad the Draft is this weekend and all of the Mock drafts will be over and done, I must say I’ve had my fill. I’m so ready for real football that I can’t stand it!!
GO TEXANS!!!!

Smokescreen?
Well, I for one thought that the news of CM3 using steroids, was not and is not, out of the realm of possibility. I guess he was just a really late bloomer. Still, this is America and for the time being we’re innocent until proven guilty – just don’t be a radical who questions the government.
If this was the work of a team (Patriots?) trying to ensure that he slipped to them, then they should be punished harshly.
It's not the teams...
that leak and/or just make this stuff up. They were talking about this on Sirius the other day about how agents might do something to make a player look bad that might go in the spot they’re trying to get their guy in.
It really is a shame though. For someone to make things up when they’re just weeks away from what’s likely a dream come true is horrible.
I'd guess the draft bible folks are on the phone with their legal counsel
right about now discussing the correct spelling of their source names…
