Andre Davis wants to start...
Texans wide receiver Andre Davis hopes to earn more offensive attention this season.
"I want to continue to go out there and help the team in any way I can. Andre (Johnson) and Kevin (Walter) are the starters, and they have played great for us the last three years that I have been here," Davis said. "I want to go out there and push those guys. I think the competition that we have within the wide receiving corps continues to push everybody and makes us play at an even higher level. We all understand that we have different skill sets and we accept the roles that we are in, but we are never satisfied with that. We are always going to push Andre and Kevin for those starting roles. I think we all have dreams for being starters in this league."
Davis caught thirteen passes for 213 yards last season.

I think he knows he is not a starter..
but it’s good to see that he is trying to push the starters to be as good as they can be. He is also setting an example for the younger guys as well. This is a good mentality for a player to have in my opinion. Every player on the team should WANT to start.

Exactly
A player that doesn’t want to start doesn’t belong in the league.
It took the Astros 44 years to get to the Series, the Oilers-Texans are due to get to the big dance...Go Texans!!!!!

Not only that but Andre Davis
Also used to be considered a future number 1 starter, with possible pro-bowl potential. His career has been disappointing to a lot of fans (especially in Cleveland), and probably especially to him. He has found a nice little niche as a third/slot receiver but he could never have expected that this is what he would be doing for a living.
I for one am happy to have him here, he continues to show great work ethic on the field for the team. Maybe his dreams of starting across from AJ still inspire him.

and those kick-ass kickoff returns are an added bonus
Like you said , I thought he never saw himself as a KOR/WR3, but he has the right attitude and skill-set to contribute to a winning team. Successful franchises are loaded with team first guys like Andre. He makes a lot of dough, but he delivers too. Can’t wait to see him bust another KO return.

No doubt.
I’ve about had it with Jacoby “Butterfingers” Jones. He was like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. He’d either fumble or run one back – problem is it seems like fumbling was much more likely.

AD has a solid role on this team
I hope he understands that. He is our most dependable special teams player and when given the opportunity 2 yrs ago sto step in for AJ he did so beautifully. The guy’s got skills but I hope he doesn’t feel that he’s “being disrespected” or something of that nature. And starting ahead of AJ is indeed a dream….fantasy, even. Gosh, depth at the WR position just makes you feel giddy all over doesn’t it? Especially considering we are only about 4 seasons removed from Jabar Gaffney, Billy Miller, and Jerome Mathis as our #2, #3, and TE. eeeeew
