Anthony Hill Signs
Texans signed fourth-round selection TE Anthony Hill to a multi-year deal.
The Texans typically sign their rookies to four-year contracts. Hill was reputed to be one of the best blocking tight ends in the draft, but he's also showcased nice pass catching ability in OTAs. He won't be a fantasy factor with Owen Daniels around. Source: houstontexans.com
VIA ROTOWORLD...
Anyway, to hear that he is catching well, I guess that sounds good...
I am really pumped about this season, especially about this 4 TE thing...
Check out this Wildcat formation:
AJ on right with Kevin on left side...5 man line, then OD and Hill on different sides (7 man line?) Then Casey as QB and Slaton in backfield...OH, THE POSSIBILITIES!!!

And Slaton
ran an option system in college almost exclusively with Pat White.

I couldn't care less about the Wildcat
Our offense is already killer. I don’t care for gimmicks.
What I AM excited about is having a big, bad TE like Hill out there actually BLOCKING the big 3-4 LBs in the short game. I’ll take that over useless and unnecessary gimmickry.

seems
to work for 1 or 2 games…I dont know…maybe the texans should run offense normal but hen INDY comes up they go a lil wildcat and confuse the shit out of them…thats what MIA did when NE was on there schedule

If that is the idea/plan
Then save it for MNF vs. the BE-SFs

but i think we play indy then Tenn so maybe we showcase it around then…

One of the reasons it worked so well for MIA against NE is because it was such a surprise. There’s no more surprise in the NFL with the Wildcat. Everyone is doing it. More than half the teams in the NFL tried it at least once last year including the Texans. The element of surprise is gone, and so soon will be the Wildcat.
Gimmicky bullshit, I say. Now – if we didn’t already have a dynamic offense, I might be down for it – but this team doesn’t need gimmickry.

I remember last season there was a discussion of the Dolphins Wildcat offense
the week leading up to the Texans-Miami game. Dolphin fan (one in particular) was convinced that it couldn’t be stopped if properly executed. Not to brag, but I simply pointed out that the wildcat was just a resurrection of a generations old offense that had gone the way of the giant lizards because defenses learned how to stop it. This was just one step in the evolutionary process that has transformed football from a run only game into a game dominated by the forward pass. Chris correctly points out that the element of surprise accounted for the MIA success vs NE. We were prepared for their simplistic offense and that, plus an ungodly catch by Dre’ + great poise by the Schaub in the last 2 minutes, was a big factor leading to our defeating the Dolphins. The wildcat will not be a significant factor in the NFL this year or any other year. It will just be an occasional gadget, just like the halfback option pass, the fake punt, etc.

I remember that exchange last year
And you forgot in your reasons we won, + Shake being at the game….

LOL, that was one roller coaster of a game
Coming the week after the record setting collapse that will forever be known as the Rosencopter, had we not won that game, we would have been 0-5 and who knows what the rest of the season would have been like. I too was lucky enough to be at that game and that last TD drive was simply amazing. ESPN recap of the game here, helped me remember just how exciting that finish was.
I love the internet cuz my memory just ain’t what it used to be. Let’s hope the Texans have as many exciting games this coming year as they did in ’08.

A Hill
I played High School ball with A Hill and Im not surprised that he doing well catching the ball. He is an excellent pass catcher and a BEAST on the field!! He wont be an Owen Daniels but he is not limited to just blocking. He may surprise yall but I know what he is capable of, cant wait to see him on the field!!

Now the hard question...
Do you go ahead and clean him for 6 figures, or hedge your bets that in 3 years he ends up w/ a multi-million dollar deal….meaning it would be more advantageous to clear the accounts at that time?
